210 Cowley Avenue Development Proposal – August 19

A redevelopment proposal for 210 Cowley Avenue will be heard by the Committee of Adjustment (CoA) on August 19. The COVID-19 shutdown delayed submission of this Application, which would otherwise have been heard in June.

  • In late February the owner initiated contact and consulted with the CPCA Planning and Zoning Committee. Subsequent to these discussions, he is asking for Minor Variances (MV) only for lot area and width.
  • The attached Notice (Cowley Redevelopment Proposal) was distributed in early March to residences in the 60 metre Notification circle on behalf of the property owner. The Owner has since made an effort to speak directly with immediate neighbours.

Provincial direction to intensify in mature neighbourhoods has resulted in many semi-detached homes being built on lots in the R2 side of the community.

The CPCA Planning & Zoning Committee will support the Application. As always, our submission will be accompanied by the CPCA Builder Code of Conduct (attached) and two City of Ottawa pamphlets for developers who are building in mature communities (also attached).
