New Order – Thieves Like Us (1984)

Entitled after the Robert Altman movie ‘Thieves Like Us’, New Order’s seventh single was released on Factory Records in April 1984 as a 12″ single. The band had linked up with influential New York DJ Arthur Baker for their ‘Confusion’ recording sessions – ‘Thieves Like Us’ came out of the collaboration. The story goes that Peter Hook stole the bass line from Hot Chocolate’s song ‘Emma’, the band adopted the title on the suggestion of Jellybean Benitez and they all thought the track was a superior follow-up to ‘Blue Monday’. Have a great week.

  1. Becka Boss says:

The New Order track was directed by Jonathon Demme. Directed the same year as STOP MAKING SENSE.
