Hike 43 was my third time hiking this particular route in Norvin Green State Forest; Otter Hole to Carris Hill to Chikahoki Falls. The climb to the top of Carris Hill is a moderate hike, made more difficult by the initial decent from Otter Hole.

This was my first time hiking Norvin Green State Forest in the fall, and I think I may make these woods a regular fall hike from now on. The colors of the leaves were breathtaking; I’m so glad I picked this one for this day!
The views from Carris Hill are certainly worth the effort to get there, too.
This route remains one of my favorite hikes in NJ – and hiking it in the fall made it even better.
