The Flower Project

I recently heard about the most lovely of community kindness initiatives – The Flower Project.

A volunteer based project gifting beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers to people who care for others or to people who need a bit of extra sunshine in their day.

Founded in Brisbane in 2011 by psychologist Shannon Yeardley, who’s small idea has since blossomed to become a registered charity The Flower Project Foundation and already has gifted over 700 bouquets of love across South East Queensland!

Recipients include carers, fosters carers, families with special needs / very ill children, volunteers and those working in roles where they go above and beyond helping others. The Flower Project also brings sunshine and acknowledgement to those who may feel forgotten by the community such as the elderly, isolated and those facing challenging life or health circumstances.

Each bouquet is carefully created and delivered by a Flower Project volunteer and  accompanied with a personalised card and message.

For more information on how you can get involved, visit The Flower Project website, facebook or twitter page or email Shannon.

There is also a Sunshine and Flowers Morning Tea on 3rd November at Farmers Hall, Samford 10am – 2pm for more info visit The Flower Project Blog.
