What is an ALHFAM PIG?

The Farmers Boot Camp at the 2015 ALHFAM Annual Conference at Colonial Williamsburg. This intensive workshop instructed participants in 18th century farming techniques and was a product of the FARM Professional Interest Group. The image can also be viewed on the ALHFAM Facebook page.

Good question. Logic would dictate that it is a heritage breed being carefully preserved at one of the ALHFAM member historic sites.

Not the case.

In ALHFAM, PIG = Professional Interest Group. There are many and they do important work. ALHFAM Professional Interest Groups give members the opportunity to explore and share information on specific topics and skills. They also plan, sponsor, and offer workshops during annual and regional meetings and submit Bulletin (the ALHFAM journal) articles. Joining a Professional Interest Group is easy: 1) be an ALHFAM member, and 2) go to your personal membership page on the ALHFAM website, click “Edit Profile,” and check the boxes for the groups you would like to participate in.
