Trailer Debut: On The Road

The trailer for Walter Salles‘ adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s legendary beat generation novel On The Road has arrived online.

Though it’s taken more than 50 years for a film version of Kerouac’s rambling road-movie to hit cinema screens, Salles’ take looks promising (and the fact he helmed The Motorcycle Diaries helps too).

Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley star as Dean Moriarty and Sal Paradise respectively; two young, disenfranchised gents who embark on a drive across the United States and meet a variety of characters along the way.

The picture also stars Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Terrence Howard, and Elisabeth Moss.

On The Road does not yet have a release date, but it is expected to make its debut at Cannes this May.

Discuss: Does this look like a decent adaptation of Kerouac’s text?

  1. Well, they at least got the driving pulsing jazz music bit right. I’d hate to be the director of this movie; think of all the expectations that such a beloved classic comes loaded with and you just know someone is going to be disapointed with the results.
