We Won’t Be Broke Forever

One week, several days, 2,300 miles and two nervous breakdowns later, we’re all moved into our new place in Seattle. It’s smaller than I thought it would be, so the house is still full of yet-to-be-unpacked crap and we’ll have to sell some things after moving them all the way across the country. It’s also sunnier than I thought it would be, with rain not scheduled until the weekend. I mean, yeah, it’s going to rain for several days once it starts, but as far as hauling all of our shit into our new place is concerned, I’ll accept and appreciate the sunshine, however temporary it may be.

Catching up on the Internet is a trip in itself. I didn’t bother using my laptop on stops across the country, and Graham didn’t call to set up the new Internet as quickly as I’d have liked. But now we have it, so I’m back to reading blogs, posting to Tumblr (eventually, it’s one of those things that if you’re not ready to fully immerse yourself, you might as well not even bother), and applying for jobs. Even though I have some interviews scheduled as it is. And one of them I decided not to go to, because the job listing lied about being about 25 minutes closer, when really it’s far the fuck away and with bridge and tunnel traffic here, it’d take me over an hour one way every. Single. Day. If I got it, that is.

Right now, I’m just exhausted. Truly, fully, to-the-bone exhausted. I’m exhausted by the drive, by the actual moving, by the trying to fit all of our junk into this tiny place with no storage, and by the little things like knowing where I’m going ever, or dealing with a West Coast mentality when I just don’t understand why people won’t cross against the goddamn light when there aren’t any cars.

I’ll post the stuff about the actual trip later. Just know that we’re here, we’re safe, and I should be back to my regular Internet abusing self soon. For now, it’s getting all of our stuff out of boxes, selling the stuff we don’t have room to keep, and making another trip to IKEA for the bookshelves we want, because they can’t be found on Craigslist and everyone else in the city wants them, too, so they were sold out when we went there today.

Oh, yeah. We have IKEA here. And Hell or High Watermelon. And we can walk places without being shot.

Jealous?
