Cavedog Entertainment and Wargaming.net‘s classic RTS Total Annihilation in its Commander Pack version becomes a limited-time freebie on GOG.
After having given away more indies lately, it’s great to see that GOG has returned to its classic gaming roots and presents with Total Annihilation: Commander Pack a title that is still fondly remembered and influential today. Released in 1997, it might not look like the most distinguished sci-fi RTS game, but if one goes a little beneath the surface one will see that it introduced lots of things modern games have borrowed from since: epic battles with many units on screen and a 3D terrain (even if it’s presented in 2D) that offers unique strategies, while the physics engine added to warfare realism, too.
As Total Annihilation: Commander Pack with both the The Core Contingency and Battle Tactics expansions is only available until tomorrow, June 7, 2020, at 1 PM UTC, don’t wait too long downloading it for free.
