Frequent get-togethers is SAWGG’s Mission. Our “SAWGGatherings” are not open to the general public, in accordance with our 501(c)(7) Social Club status.

Monthly Live Meetings

Held Friday nights @ 6:30PM in Denville (Morris County) for Members, our meetings feature lots of time for socializing, along with:

  • member show-n-tell or pics and videos
  • moderated group discussion
  • potluck snack table (bring something to share)
  • library of books and things
  • door prizes
  • tricky tray
  • bowl show (Best Fish and People’s Choice awards with prizes)
  • F.R.E.E.S. Table (share and partake)
  • live auction of member fish, plants, dry goods, and manufacturer donations. (click here for auction rules).

We meet around tables. Meetings last about 2.5-3:0 hours.

Our meeting code of conduct prohibits unsolicited chats, loud conversations, and messaged clothing that could make others uncomfortable (i.e. polarizing, provocative, or expletive language). Rude or argumentative behavior is not tolerated, and good hygiene is expected of all attendees.

Zoom Programs

Our Speaker Program in conducted over Zoom on Friday nights at 8PM. Presentations are from Members, or experts from around the USA, followed by Q&A. Our Zoom meetings last 1.5 hours and are recorded for our Members.

Facebook Group

Members post photos, videos, successes and failures, and assist each other with questions and answers, 24/7. The Group is private and posts can only be viewed by fellow members.

Special Events

Throughout our season, we host “theme” meetings such as our Spring Pond Start-Up, Summer Picnic, and Holiday Potluck. These special meetings often feature a Tricky Tray, gift bags, group guys, and contests.

Field Trips

Previous trips have included Adventure Aquarium, the Bronx Zoo, NY Aquarium, road trips to sister clubs, weekend hobby events, and tub and fishroom crawls.
