A Photo Artist from India – Sonali Dalal
2010: The year will forever remain etched in the memory of Sonali Dalal, a year in which she started her journey as a photo artist. Suddenly she found the medium to explore the beauty all around: in people, in nature, in objects, in small thing of life. Day by day her vision expanded and her camera became vehicle for the expression of her vision. The art of photography, she felt, was pure meditation. Though she indulges in other genres of photography, she considers abstract photo art as her preferred way of expression.
Exhibitions
2012: She held her first solo exhibition titled “Chiaroscuro” which was a great success. In a thoughtful departure, she exclusively exhibited monochrome images, showing her fascination for capturing play of light and shadow in her photographs. Chiaroscuro
2014: She held her second solo exhibition “Point of View”, showcasing her work with European artists, narrating her point of view about the environment of an artist’s studio. This exhibition was sponsored by “Lalitkala Academy” –highest body promoting art in India. Point of View
2016: She Collaborated with a renowned British Installation Artist Lisa Milroy , where her photos became part of the installation created by the artist. In another exhibition, her work was showcased along with some of the topmost photographers of India, as a talent to watch out for.
2017: She had her first international group show “Petits Formats” at Paris. Petits Formats
She has also participated in few other group shows.
Awards
2012: She won Gold Medal (Honourable Mention) at The 73 rd Photographic Salon of Japan for her picture “Curious”.
2015: She won her second Gold Medal (Honourable Mention) at The 76 th Photographic Salon of Japan for her picture “Smile of Opimism”.

Thanks a lot! Hope I will keep up with the expectations!
Hi! thank you so much for your follow, great photography 🙂
Thanks 🙂
Sonali,
Coincidentally, a couple of days ago i was talking to a man, who is almost nuts about photography. He is about 55 years of age and obviously has seen and used a wide range of cameras and techniques. He works for the government, photography is his hobby and he pursues it very passionately, as much as his limited means allow him. Actually i met him at a hospital where he was attending to his mother, where she was admitted for treatment. Even in the Hospital, when he saw a very cute kid, he pulled out a small camera from his pocket and clicked away the child. And the results he showed me the next day, the result was brilliant.
I asked him, what is the best camera in the market. His answer, i think was most brilliant, which i could never forget cos it applies to all facets of life. He said, of course there are great cameras available technology wise and if you can spare the money, but the best camera is your eye, if you have the eye, you can click the best photo with even a “dabba Camear”.
And I must say you have the eye for capturing beauty in pictures.
Thanks a lot! I agree with the gentleman ! Ultimately it is your vision, that matters.
Sonali, very glad you’ve discovered the beauty in photography – I’m completely hooked too. My aim is simply to create beautiful images >>> however we are quite different in that I’ll use any software means available to produce what I can see in my head – but we’re all different and it would be a terrible thing if we weren’t – if we all had exactly the same tastes etc.
Thank you for subscribing to me blog – I hope my comments about software haven’t put you off! FATman
Hi Adrian! I am not at all put off by your views. There is nothing wrong in working with softwares, after all they are creation of one among us only. I have realised that you need intelligence to use these softwares too! In fact,I do use them, as much as I understand them. But I stop somewhere. I do create digital art (if I can use that word!) with help of these software, which is independent of my photography. You can also see them on this blog. Thanks for stopping by! Mixture of people like us make this world interesting for me.
hope you’ll play TAG….another way to connect in blog land…
http://makebelieveboutique.com/2012/02/26/tag-games/
I would love too. But I am not very regular as my work commitments and my travels keep me busy. So it would be unfair to others who are participating and who tag me. Once I become regular here, I will definitely join. Thanks for inviting me. 🙂
No problem Sonali….be well…our paths will cross along the way:)
Hello Ma’m..:)
Your captures are fascinating…They have life ..
Keep the good work going..!:)
Thanks for your motivating comments!
Thank you very much for the “like” on my blog! I just viewed your blog and love your photos!
p.s. You shouldn’t call yourself an amateur photographer, you are very good at it.
Thanks Adrian! I really am an amateur and a learner. I am happy to know that you liked my blog. I would welcome your suggestions, comments and criticism.
Hello,
I have been enjoying your photos and I must say that I am impressed. The images are such an art!

Thanks a lot Shirsha for choosing me for this award. It is inspiring for me too! Do you mind if I do not accept this award at the moment? First of all I feel that I am too new to this blogging world. Apart from that due to work pressure and travelling, I am not very regular in posting as well as visiting other blogs.I really miss that. I think it will be injustice to other bloggers if I accept it. Once again thanks! Thanks a lot! Wonderful boost for my efforts no doubt about it 🙂 !

Thanks for giving me an award. I am grateful to you. It is very inspiring to receive it. Once again I am sincerely grateful to you for considering me for this honour.
It is not at all compulsory to accept it….keep writing 🙂
Thank you so much!!!
Your blog is beautiful, Sonali. I’m with you on editing in-camera as much as possible.
Thanks for your appreciation! Frankly sometimes when I see highly edited but beautiful images,I do get tempted, but somehow at the end I avoid it. Good that I have never learned Photoshop! Though I love adding textures which I have been doing recently. I call them my painted photographs.
Nice to meet you, Sonali. Thrilled you want to follow my journey through life.
Nice to meet you too! I have found so many wonderful co-passengers in my short journey through world of blogging. I love to meet new people. So happy to make one more friend.
Sonali,
Do you mind me asking where are you from?
My wife and I will be coming to India in July.
Regards
Mark

Thank you so much for nominating me for this award. I highly appreciate it. Inspiring though it is,I am unable to accept it,due to time constraint.I have not been visiting other blogs as regularly as I would like to,so would not like to do injustice to anyone. Once again thanks a lot.

Thank you soo much Livia for nominatng me for this award. I am really sorry about my inability to accept this award,as I am not so regular in blogging and visiting my fellow blogger’s lovely blogs. So I may do injustice. Due to work pressure,I am likely to be even more irregular for next few months. Once again heartfelt thanks to you. I admire your photography greatly,so it is doubly inspirational to be nominated by you.

Just got to know about your solo photo exhibition at Ahmedabad. Congratulations and best wishes 🙂
Thanks :)! I had posted on the blog few days back and you responded, I think!
Oh okay… i thought this is different.. I read on twitter today 🙂
On twitter??? I do not know about it! Small world!
Oh yes… Paras posted a link to news paper article 🙂
Ya. Paras is such a help!
Yeah… just now speaking to him on twitter if this show will be held in mumbai also 🙂
I wish I can hold it in mumbai, delhi and kolkatta. It would be dream come true.
That would be great 🙂
Hope the organizers can do something about it. I am not sure about Delhi and Kolkatta but in Mumbai there is huge population of Gujaratis which will be instantly attracted towards something like this.
I am organizing the exhibition in Ahmedabad. I hope I can find interested people in other cities and countries too.
I think you should try in Mumbai also. I think the response will be good.
I hope one day….
Congratulations, I just nominated you for “One Lovely Blog Award”: kindly see the blog and accept the nomination.
Thanks a lot .but do you mind if I do not accept it? As at the moment I feel that I have a long way to go and apart from that I am not very very regular in updating and commenting.it will be unfair to accept. There are many beautiful blogs which really deserve this. Once again I appreciate your recommendation.
Yes for sure, in fact even I was thinking not to accept when I was nominated but just was not as clear as you are, I am also not so regular but I appreciate your thought. Thank you once again.
