Released in 2019 but is considered part of the 2011 Girl’s Guide.

Five steps are needed to complete this badge:

1. Choose your outdoor adventure
   Snow – learn the skills for skiing and/or snowboarding & spend two days on the slopes (either an overnight trip or two separate day trips).
   Climbing – climb and belay using a top-rope climbing system. Aim for two to three practice sessions on an artificial indoor or outdoor climbing wall before you tackle the real deal
2. Gather your gear
3. Set a goal and train for your adventure
4. Go on your outdoor adventure

Multi-Level Matches

Check out other badges that might work well with this badge when doing activities with multiple levels.  These are simply suggestions and may take some creativity and extra steps to earn all the badges in various levels.

A Multi-Level Troop will need to do extra steps when earning different badges across levels. It depends on how many requirements overlap. Some will only have one or two matching requirements.

If there is no badge in a level, we suggest that a level earns a Fun Patch related to the rest of the badges instead of an official badge.

The Snow and Climbing Adventure badges will have a completely different type of Snow or Climbing adventure for each level and cannot be done concurrently with keeping the technical requirements. Many multi-level troop leaders will pick the adventure that is appropriate for the level of progression of that troop. If that means everyone is doing the Brownie level of the Snow adventure, that is what the leader accepts. It’s not like you can jump straight into a 2 day skiing/snowboarding event if you never even learned how to ski.

• Daisy – Daisy Snow and Climbing Adventure
  Snow – snowshoeing, tubing, sledding, ice skating, or tobogganing;
  Climb – boulder on an artificial rock wall and go no higher than six feet without harness
• Brownie – Brownie Snow and Climbing Adventure
  Snow – learn the skills you need for cross-country skiing, and then, go skiing on a trail;
  Climb – earn and practice rock-climbing skills on an artificial climbing wall (indoor or outdoor)
• Junior – Junior Snow and Climbing Adventure
  Snow – learn about, train for, and go snowboarding or downhill skiing;
  Climb – learn about, train for, and go on a recreational tree-climbing adventure
• Cadette – Cadette Snow and Climbing Adventure
  Snow – learn the skills for skiing and/or snowboarding & spend two days on the slopes (either an overnight trip or two separate day trips);
  Climb – climb and belay using a top-rope climbing system. Aim for two to three practice sessions on an artificial indoor or outdoor climbing wall before you tackle the real deal
• Senior – Senior Snow and Climbing Adventure
  Snow – snow camping overnight in a designated camping area, such as a local state park or campground (not meant for backcountry);
  Climb – two-day climbing trip where you will climb and belay using a top-rope climbing system, rappel, and do gear safety checks.
• Ambassador – Ambassador Snow and Climbing Adventure
  Snow – three-day winter backpacking trip in the backcountry;
  Climb – three-day climbing trip where you will climb and belay using a top-rope climbing system, rappel, do gear safety checks, and practice setting up top-rope anchor systems with 2-3 practice sessions using an artificial climbing wall (indoor or outdoor) before your outdoor adventure

Uniform Placement

This badge should go where #14 is stated on the GSUSA Uniform Guide.

(Note – Badges and pins on a sash simply go in order (top of sash to bottom of sash) of Identification badges, bridging badge, pins, journeys, and other badges. Anything that does not fit on the front can be placed on the back of the sash. Sashes will not hold a lot of badges and vests are recommended if you plan to earn badges.)
