Who is Janet?

I am Revd Dr Janet Anderson-MacKenzie Priest-in-charge of the Lidbrook Group, the Benefice of Box with Hazelbury and Ditteridge and the parish of Colerne in the benefice of Colerne and North Wraxall.

I have been living in Box, Wiltshire for 10 years. I was ordained in 2004 (priest in 2005) and after spending time in curacy in Somerset (Woolavington and Wellington) I moved here in 2008 to be priest in charge, originally half-time for Box with Hazelbury and Ditteridge, then in September 2011 to be full time and in charge of Colerne as well.

Originally from Ware in Hertfordshire, I moved to Edinburgh in 1989 where I studied for a BSc(Hons) and PhD in Biochemistry, then moved to Bristol at the end of 1996 where I worked as a postdoctoral researcher until 2003, latterly part time as I completed my training for ordination (and had two daughters).

My theology MA dissertation was in ‘The common search for meaning in Alternative Worship and Dance Club culture’. This followed quite a long way down the road from my ordination training project which required students to undertake an activity which was new to them, uncomfortable, but achievable. I went clubbing (having decided that caving was unachievably outside my comfort zone) and a whole new theological world was opened up to me in the Baja beach club in Newcastle.

I like to drink tea, travel, do fun things with my family (I have a husband and two teenage daughters). I am a visual learner who has stumbled in to a love of radio by working alongside Radio Wiltshire over the past few years. Audio editing is new to me so please be patient.
