Day 2 (Fri 4 Aug) Buskerud Part 1: Hole
Old part c 1200
New part since 1943
Hole Kirke – the small white part built 1200. It was nearly destroyed multiple times. The restored part was built of local standstone since 1943.
Bell tower c 1850
Church c 1100
Monument
Bønsnes Kirke – the low part built in 1100, the bell tower much later – 1850s. Interior decor has features from over its lifetime. The roof was being restored when we were there, so the old part was swathed in plastic and the roof tiles in boxes on the ground, but it WAS open for tours (unlike Hole).
Connected farms in Hole parish (now kommune)
Fjeld (“Mountain” – the highest point on the pennensula), birthplace of Anne Marie Christensdatter, 1816.
