About

The Blog:

In skiing, the sidecountry is the term for those backcountry areas that can be reached by riding the lifts and ducking the boundary ropes.

It is an analogy for what I like to do more than anything else in the world–to duck the rope and see what’s on the other side.

This blog is me telling you stories from my sidecountry. Often, it’s skiing. Or hiking. Or my dog. Other times, it’s something else entirely.

Liz Millikin is a software engineer and a writer, among other things. She started skiing way too young, and she can’t seem to leave the mountains behind.

She grew up in New England and moved to Colorado in 2014.

She’s worn many career-shaped hats over the years.  She’s a software engineer at the moment. She likes the way it fits.

Her views are her own.
