2011 – The year of BI?

There continues to be a lot of noise around the Business Intelligence (BI) space, especially from the likes of Gartner. Last week Gartner stated that BI platforms will remain one of the fastest growing software markets, expected to be worth $10.8 billion (http://bit.ly/fir1W0).

Certainly for a lot of SAP users, Business Intelligence is increasingly on their radar. The further integration of Business Objects is a sure sign that SAP is recognising how more and more organisations are looking to make better use of their business data.

Support for ‘extreme data performance’ was cited by Gartner as a major driver of potential BI growth. This support includes in-memory technology. For SAP users this is potentially exciting news, with the company likely to be making a big push around its HANA in-memory computing engine this year.  So for SAP users, 2011 could indeed be the year of BI.

As ever, here at the User Group we will be ensuring that our members are kept abreast of the latest BI developments coming out of SAP.  Please check both our main website (www.sapusers.org) and our new conference website (www.sapusers.og/conference2011) for further details.
