Yesterday, Jessica Northey asked an important question on her Facebook wall.
If tomorrow was your last day on Earth, what would you want to do?
It’s an important question because it focuses our heart on the things that matter most to us. It’s a question that asks us who we are, what we hope for, and what must we do in this world?
If tomorrow was your last day on Earth, what would you want to do?
Whatever your answer is – it is not just about what you would do if tomorrow was your last day. Whatever answer you give is really about what you want to do today. Right now.
Whatever your problems. Whatever your fears. When you get what you want and not what you need.
Whatever you have done wrong, you can still do amazing things. You can still love. You can still shine. No matter what you’ve done. Or didn’t do, yesterday.
Because the things that matter in your heart are beautiful and good things. Amazing things. Stonger than steel. Harder than diamonds. Bright as the stars.
And this is what I’d be doing – if today is my last day on Earth. I’d be encouraging you. I’d draw a line for you – a line from here to happiness.
I’d be hoping that this message touches your heart and inspires you to do amazing things.
And this is what I’m doing. And if you don’t hear from me ever again, God bless you.

I’ve just told you everything that I really had to say to you. I spoke my heart with you. And I’ll leave you with a question that will always be with you – a question that might encourage you across all your days and nights.

Stan…wooo….goose bumps or what. What would I do? I would probably tell people I love them all day, I’d write it, scream it, sing it, kiss it, make love like it, dance it, eat it. I would show my love in every single way I could think of..I would like to make it my legacy. “She came…she saw…she loved…and occasionally she even conquered”. Stan…my friend from Bucharest, who I initially thought was scary as heck when I first encountered his comments in the blogging world. I love youuuuuuuuuuuu. There we go…if we never speak again..at least you know.xx

Dammit, Stan. (*wink*) I wrote something and it didn’t post. AAARGH. So this second try isn’t as inspired, but it’s late and here goes…
I saw the post on Jessica’s wall, but as I was flying through Facebook, felt it was a serious question and difficult to come up with something clever or pithy.
But here in the quiet of the moment, all I can say is, I would want to be with family and friends. It wouldn’t matter what we’d be doing—it would just matter that I could see them, hug & kiss them, and tell them how much I love them.
I hate when a comment doesn’t post! But even a few honest words from the Twitter rockstar Terri Nakamura is better than gold. Thanks for taking time out of your awesomely busy life to encourage me, Terri.
Well…let me say this: I don’t know exactly what I would do.
Perhaps I would treat it as any other day – doing whatever I do. I’d like to feel enlightened and have a great answer but the truth is I’m as confused as ever about where to go and what to do.
I’ll keep rolling as I usually do: do videos, go climbing with my friends, work (occasionally), blog (may be considered work sometimes), etc. 🙂

If today were my last day on earth, I would make sure that everything was together for those who needed it, I would once more freely express my love and appreciation of people and, perhaps, I would write one last beautiful post like Danny Brown’s today “If this was my last post.”

Of all the people I’ve loved and “lost” the one thing I remember is their countenance, their smile and how I felt in their presence. So, Id be quiet and sit still. There would be nothing more to do. Just to be would be enough. I’d make eye contact and do my best to connect and leave my smile on that one person’s heart. That’s what I’d do.

Hi Stan,
I thought about 1000 things I would do if tomorrow was my last day.
And every one of them I’ve thrown out as an option.
This is what I’ve come up with. I would gather my family and friends and just mingle and be. Spend the whole day outside in nature. Tell stories, make memories, eat and remember. I would laugh a lot, cry a lot and just enjoy.
The things I first considered would not matter that last day: leave my passwords to my accounts so my husband could easily access, leave a video blog for my kids, leave postcards, write letters, call people.
No.
I would enjoy the day and not worry. I would want to be worry-free. Care-free. And say thank you to those that have mattered. I would tell those I love that I’ve loved them. I would tell those who helped me that they made a difference.
And I believe I would not be scared.
I believe I would not be.
I would not.
Because I believe.

I know exactly what I would do if tomorrow was my last day on earth, and the funny thing is that it’s something everyone has been against but my heart says otherwise.

I don’t know what I would do on the last day of my life. I suppose I would want to spend time with loved ones and share with them the things that I believe are truly important. About a year ago I had the experience of spending a final day with one of my closest friends. He was dying and we both knew we would not see each other alive again. We did some simple things, we talked about life and remembered some good times we had together. We laughed and got a bit teary eyed. As I left him, we just looked at each other and gave a silent thumbs up.
