Solange is KILLING IT. She is positively beating the shit out of this outfit in an elevator while her sister rolls her eyes. She was born to wear this suit, particularly in this astounding color. And that purse/earrings combo? Delectable.

Still slaying it, this time with a disco twist. I know I’ve lamented the return of 1970s fashion, because it has resulted in the widest-leg pants in the universe that are flattering on literally no one, but THIS is the way to bring disco back, bitches. No need for your pants to be shaped like elephants’ legs – just work a bright, sharp orange-white combo, throw on some solid gold accessories (that purse! <3), let your hair go wild, and dance to some BeeGees.

KRISTEN BELL at the CMT Music Awards

I was not prepared for truly fashionable looks to come out of the CMT Music Awards, because the country music red carpet scene is not exactly known for churning out fashion-forward, elegant garments. It tends to be an exercise in big hair and glitter. But this is not only Kristen Bell’s best work yet, it’s also designer Zuhair Murad’s. Zuhair Murad makes a lot of beautiful things, but I still associate him more with tacky Jennifer Lopez outfits than anything else. Now, I’ll remember him as the designer who covered Veronica Mars in perfect cascading embellishments and made her look every bit the superstar she is. (Also, if you’re not reading my Veronica Mars recaps with the fabulous Snark Squad ladies, you’re missing out. #shamelessplug)

I’m still surprised every time I see Nicole Kidman at a country music event. Which is stupid, because she’s been married to Keith Urban for eight years and attended countless events with him since, but I still can’t reconcile the Australian ice queen with this scene. I must say, though, this is a great little dress – chic, stylish, interesting, but not so divalicious that it pulls focus from the actual country stars attending the event. A perfect “I support my adorable husband and even though I’m more famous than all these basic bitches, I’m going to play it cool” ensemble.

Cute and chic, but more because of the woman wearing it than the outfit itself. I’m still shocked Bey allowed her sister to out-dress her when they attended the same event.

MIRANDA LAMBERT at the CMT Music Awards

Ignore the country-fried hair, which is basically mandatory for this woman at this event. Instead, let’s celebrate this positively glam outfit, which gives us the glitter and glitz that the setting requires, but removes all the crazy frippery that usually comes along with country stars. Ms. Lambert has absolutely never looked better. That dress is astounding.

I know the camera angle makes her look like a Bratz doll, but ignore that, because this is a dress we should all own in every color. The necklaces give it the 80s-Madonna edge that Demi favors, and the purse and shoes are delish.

I adore everything about this dress, from the color to the leather to the collar to the belt. The styling isn’t particularly memorable, but I think that’s okay with a dress as simply chic as this one.

I know Shailene Woodley is the new Jennifer Lawrence to today’s teen girls, but I simply can’t fall in love with anyone whose response to “Are you a feminist?” is “No, because I love men!” News flash, Shailene: that’s not how feminism works. Anyway, this whole dress needs to be yanked up a full inch, and the peplum is beyond tired. I’m also not sure this shade of yellow even works on her. But it’s bright and fun, so I’ll give it a pass.

A way better dress, but you can tell she didn’t choose it herself because her earthy-chic accessories (that actually suit her granola personality) couldn’t be more wrong for it.

I’ve adored this dress since I predicted Kiernan Shipka would wear it, but I’m a little mad at Zoe for pairing it with those shoes. Just because the dress is lovely and the shoes are lovely doesn’t mean they actually make sense together.

Between the hair, the dress, the earrings, and the shoes, she’s got about a thousand shades of yellow and gold happening here, and it’s all a bit much to take in. Blake’s just continuing her long history of wearing nice dresses with no idea how to style them properly.

It makes me angry that she’s kind of pulling this off, because this is the stupidest assortment of clothing and accessories I’ve ever seen.

Though I like the suit, the print is a total Miu Miu knock-off. I hate the fringed purse, and I’m not a fan of the platforms. But it doesn’t get much more Florence Welch than this.

EMMY ROSSUM in New York City

Sweet and romantic, but the nude shoes make it look like her feet end in sharp points and it’s a little bit terrifying.

JAIME KING in New York City

Why can’t Jaime King ever find a hair-makeup combination that suits her? The slick, center-parted hair is way too severe, and her makeup artist should be imprisoned for this crime against her face. A shame, too, because the outfit is more chic and streamlined than her usually busy get-ups, but there’s no ignoring what’s happening above the neck.

I’m pretty sure Lily Allen time-traveled to the 1970s and stole this dress from Liza Minnelli’s costume closet. I just can’t think of a more plausible explanation for this look than that.

Granny panties, with some sheer curtains thrown on top, covered in whatever embellishments could be found at the local Party City. I’m now convinced Chrissy been digging through the trash cans outside Parsons, foraging for Project Runway rejects.
