Welcome to Part Two of our “American Idol 8 Redux” series!  Last week, in honor of the January 20 two-year “Adam-versary” of the first time we saw/heard Adam on American Idol, I shared with you some of my email correspondence with my little group of fellow die-hard Idol fans.  I would like to continue sharing those emails with you this week, but it turns out I was uncharacteristically silent for the next several days in 2009 and didn’t send any emails!  I  guess I just didn’t see anything very spectacular that inspired me to write any comments.  (Maybe, unbeknownst to me, my first exposure to Adam on January 20, 2009 left me speechless?  That’s my story and I’m sticking with it!)

So for this week’s Redux post, I’ll share with you some history of American Idol 8.  It premiered on January 13, 2009.  The first three weeks included seven broadcasts of the auditions from eight different cities.  Here’s a list of those dates and their auditions cities, including links to Michael Slezak’s articles on ew.com for the last three auditions shows (links to Slezak articles for the first four auditions shows were posted last week):

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 – Phoenix

Wednesday, January, 14, 2009 – Kansas City

Tuesday, January 20, 2009 – San Francisco (including the fabulous Adam Lambert!)

Wednesday, January 21, 2009 – Louisville

Tuesday, January 27, 2009 – Jacksonville, FL (Entertainment Weekly post)

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 – Salt Lake City (Entertainment Weekly post)

Thursday, January 29, 2009 – New York  & Puerto Rico (Entertainment Weekly post)

At the end of the auditions rounds, there were approximately 147 contestants who had received their Golden Tickets and heard those magic words:  “You’re going to Hollywood!”
