Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran? It’s irrelevant to the International Law

Propagandists trying to justify Israel’s illegal acquisition of non-Israeli territory are so stupid they beggar belief

Their narrative goes something like this: “Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran”

So what? It is entirely irrelevant to the Internationally recognized sovereign extent of the State of Israel and Israel’s responsibilities & illegal activities as the Occupying Power over non-Israeli territories.

Never the less …

The Quran is written in Arabic. Jerusalem translated to Arabic is القدس. The word “القدس” appears in 4 verses in Quran

Second, it shows why Jerusalem is so intrinsically important to Muslim beliefs and mentality. Therefore, it tries to help readers at large to understand the Muslim attitude in relation to this city.

  2. My translation is from the Oxford World’s Classics Series, by M.A.S. Abdel Haleem. For example, 2:87 reads: “We gave Moses the Scripture and We sent messengers after him in succession. We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear signs and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit.”

    The next two also refer to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The fourth one is about the Holy Spirit bringing the Revelation to the Prophet. It is not possible to read Jerusalem into them.

    • The Zionists never, ever contradict each other, even when they’re saying things in flat contradiction of each other (eg whether they’re waging war on Gaza or not, whether they’re deliberately attacking civilians, whether they’re carrying out communal punishment of Palestinans). As a result, I’m uncomfortable contradicting Talknic.

      However, I have to report that my “Quran translated by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan” says much the same as you about the first example.

      For the second example, Verse 2:253 in my version says “Of these messengers, We have given something additional among them. There are some to whom God spoke directly and others He exalted in rank. We gave Jesus, son of Mary clear signs and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Had God pleased, those who succeeded him would not have fought against one another after the clear signs had come to them. But they disagreed among themselves; some believed, while others did not. Yet had God willed, they would not have fought against one another; but God does whatever he wills”.

      Nevertheless, Talknic is correct about the first point, it makes not a scrap of difference as regards the status of Jerusalem, which Israel is not fit to look after. Christian holy places are being trashed there very much the way as Israel is doing to Islamic holy places.

  3. I think you have (B) wrong. In my English translation (Haleem) the only phrase common to these four verses is ‘Holy Spirit’.
