Review & Giveaway: Green To Grow Organic Baby Cloths by Heather

I received these fabulous Organic Baby Cloths for review from Green to Grow. At first glance there were many things I liked about them. The bright color palette, for starters (turquoise, lime green and a vibrant yellow). Usually I see organic cloths in more neutral colors so its nice to have another option. For those afraid of bold colors, Green to Grow does offer neutrals as well. I also like the double stitched edges of the cloths, so they’re not likely to fray with the hundred plus washings my 8 week old is likely to make me put them through. They are the perfect size for throwing over your shoulder, but the double layer of fabric was unfortunately not enough to keep a major spit-up off my clothes underneath. Since the cloth is lightweight, it dried much faster than the bulkier cloth diapers I usually use. The baby cloths did, however, keep me dry during a diaper change with my son when I decided to try them out in a new way. I would argue they should even make smaller cloths for just this purpose! Also, since they’re not bulky I could just throw one in the diaper bag without taking up a lot of space. Lastly, they’re soft and seemed to get softer with subsequent washes. My baby’s face approves, as he’s taken many naps on them already!

Here is some product info on the Baby Cloths: They are 100% Skal certified organic cotton, which means it is tested and verified to meet international organic farming standards. The cloths are made from cotton grown by members of the Chetna Organic Project in India. The goal of the project is to help independent farmers overcome poverty and contribute to their communities. They are fair trade, socially sustainable and use eco-friendly dyes. They are free of formaldehyde, amines, pesticides and heavy metals. The colors are assorted from fabric “end rolls” that the fabric manufacturer has left over from printing fashion colors for their other customers that would otherwise end up in a landfill. They rescue the first quality fabric and refashion it into super-soft cloths. The retail price for a set of 3 cloths is $23.99. They also include a baby cloth in their popular gift, the “Welcome Home Set”. Additionally, their website serves as a resource for further readings on creating a green nursery, keeping a healthy home, children’s health and more.

Green to Grow is a Los Angeles-based company started by a mom and dad concerned of the dangers present with harmful chemicals leeching from baby bottles, clothes and toys. They are committed not just to the environment, but to communities as well. An example of their international community support? They recently donated $40,000 in BPA-free bottles and nipples to an orphanage in Haiti. To use a social media reference—I “Like” this.
