Review: I don’t think I’ve read any if the others ib this series but it worked well as a standalone. I’m planning on going back and reading the other stories because this one was really a tight, well written suspense novel that engaged all my senses.

Sloan just has to get away from her dysfunctional, crime lord family. Raised as one of the daughters in a ruthless mob family that only tolerated women as belongings, she felt she had to escape. There was no future for her except to be married off to some old crony of her father’s or used as a pawn in a political marriage to bring the family more power. She knows that people will eventually show up looking for her, but her brother Teague has given her some time.

Who’s the dark stranger across the street? Is the hit man already knocking at her door? Too bad he’s so intriguing.

Jude McNamara knows who she is almost immediately, but he’s there to find a Sheridan, the family that left him as the only survivor of his family. Getting caught up with Sloan is a mistake, and a very bad distraction. To stay alive he needs to remain unattached and always cautious.

A blinding night of sensuality and explosive chemistry changes everything in a split second. Can Jude change his course of revenge and start again? Can Sloan ever trust that Jude won’t hurt the ones she loves?
