Thor The Dark World (Trailer #2) Review
Wow that looks much better than the first trailer. The film looks explosive, action packed, visually gorgeous, smart and genuinely funny. I was getting quite worried about this film after the last trailer but this one makes this film a must see, and the UK gets it the 30th October. If this trailer is a true representation of the film then I like where it is going, and the new director seems to be on the ball. If the whole film is half as entertaining as this trailer then we are in for autumn treat. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer.

My Score: A+
Release date: 30th October 2013
Plot:
One year after the events of The Avengers, Thor battles to save the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. A primeval race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Top 10 Scenes
10. Feng Shui
Loki clearly developed some Feng Shui powers whilst in prison. This scene doesn’t really make sense to me; he seems pretty calm in the scenes with Thor but is clearly having a hissy fit here. I suppose I’ll have to wait and see but at least he doesn’t look like Skrillex.

9. VALHALLA!
I mentioned how the new Valhalla looked much more realistic in the last trailer review, but wow this looks spectacular. This shot looks like a mix between Rivendell and some futuristic alien city. It looks fantastic and with all the new worlds I am sure this won’t be the only great scenery.
–
8. Asgardian Prison
If you can ignore Loki for just second you can see both the guards and the other criminals in a separate jail. Just a theory at this point that those criminals look an awful lot like the army Thor fights, which suggests that the fight is right at the beginning of the film which would be an epic start, Am probably wrong though, we’ll see.
–
7. Fast & Furious Dark Elves
Speeding in a housing estate that’s a fine and 3 points on your license. Haha about a hundred people just died in that crash. I do like the blend between science fiction and magic in this film so far but I always love space ships.
–
6. Loki for Good
Go on Loki kick some butt for the good guys for a change. He’s probably just defending himself after Thor dragged him to a battle. The real question is how they will play Loki and Thor off each other as brother, as friend and as enemy.
–
5. Idris Elba as Heimdall
“You face an enemy known only by a few” I remember hearing he would get a larger role in the sequel and I was very disappointed he wasn’t even in the first trailer. Whilst this doesn’t show much it’s enough knowing he’s in it at all and hope his part is good.
–
4. Malekith Looking Creepy
I really hope that the Dark Elves are indeed dark, if I am not a little afraid of them then it’s terribly weak villain and so far their not sending chills down my spine. I do like those masks, the eyes creep me out a little which is good but I expect better when I see the film.

3. I Like Her
I did like this scene from the trailer; we get threats from Volstagg and Sif and then a good smack from Jane Foster. But Loki’s reaction is pure gold and I laughed quite a bit. But not the biggest laugh of the trailer.
–
2. Rock Monster
This would have been enough but no it keeps getting funnier. Anyway I loved the entrance with the solitary soldier getting knocked on his ass to the crowd of baddies cheering, I know it’s been done before but it’s a classic and it always works for me.

1. Anyone Else?
It’s just the look on his face! It makes me laugh every time. After the last trailer I didn’t expect so much humour but I have mentioned three separate scenes in this trailer alone to make me laugh. It’s a bit weird but I must say the sound editing on this film is excellent, I mean I can hear Thor very clearly and the crackling on the burning tree’s behind him.

New Poster
Well that’s my views. Now what do you think about this newest trailer?

Solid review here, Tim. Yep, and good call out on the other baddies incarcerated in the background of Loki.
I am curious about the fight that Thor’s mother is involved in. Thoughts on that?

I actually have a theory about that. I think she’ll die. The trailer suggests a loss for Thor, it shows Jane about to die but I don’t see that happening but mother dearest may get the chop.
What do you think?

I think so too, which, makes me inexplicably sad. I don’t even really remember much of her from the first film, but the idea of this loss (remembering Thor’s relationship with his mother) makes me feel bad for Thor if that is what will happen.
Makes me think that Thor: The Dark World will have that extra amount of depth and be great.

I do hope its a great film, and its the kind of emotional depth the marvel films need to have.

I hope they use more Idris Elba, a waste of talent otherwise.

I guess you’re right, besides Riddick, Machete and The Hobbit Part 2, Thor 2 has my main attention as the next film of 2013 I NEED to watch.

I agree with your sentiment. The first railer came off as a bit disjointed, while the current one has a better sense of flow, as well as drama. I posted a similar review: http://wp.me/p1tgNQ-3VW

This could’ve been a whole minute shorter, given me more to be surprised at and “see for the first time” while in the theater, and been just as impactful. I like the trailer, don’t get me wrong, but I think it does what many trailers do and gives away too much. I’m sure there will be plenty more to be impressed at in the film, but there are a lot of things there that could’ve been left out and it be just as good. Maybe even better, kind of an “addition by subtraction” thing. Maybe I’m just in a griping mood 🙂

Not a happy bunny? Nah I get the spoiler alert feeling but I could complain that to all the film trailers I review 😀

Cannot wait for this movie. I know the first Thor wasn’t exactly loved by everyone, but it’s probably one of my favorites so far from Marvel. Hopefully this one is even better! 😀
