Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Teaser #1) Review

So are teasers just trailers that leave you more puzzled than when you started? Yes Tim, yes they are. About time they showed something. Wait, no still 11 months away. Why are they showing this? In no way am I complaining this was a very welcomed treat. My excitement for this film has ticked up which is impressive because I was already frothing from the mouth with excitement (Maybe a little rabies). The film is clearly influenced by the events of Man of steel and I want to see how this will be weaved into The Dark Knight Returns story that is clearly the basis for this films plot. Loved the clippings of voices describing the differing viewpoints of this “hero”. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

“That’s how it starts. The fever, the rage…the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel”

Batman V Superman banner

My Score: A (Teasers don’t get A+) Damn Tease!

Release date: 25th March 2016

Plot:

Plot is still being written. So I’ll guess themes.

  • Batman’s too old for this shit.
  • Superman goes full Arnold Schwarzenegger and gets addicted to snapping peoples necks.
  • Wonder woman is perceived somehow as both sexist and feminist.
  • Zack Snyder goes colour blind.

What I liked

#6. Love/Hate Relationship

Batman V Superman loved and hated

The world of DC’s cinematic universe is as divided in opinion as the real world. If there is one person who loves with a passion there will be another person who hates with a passion. Superman will be loved by those he saved from Zod and hated by those who suffered because he brought Zod to Earth. I cannot wait to see how this all plays out for Superman.

#5. Batman’s Armoured Suit

Batman V Superman Batman armoured suit

If you have read the Dark Knight Returns comic or seen the animated film then you know how close to the material this suit looks. Bulky metal, war torn and those eyes! Note sure about that voice but who knows, I’ll judge it when I see it.

#4. Superman’s Bright New Suit

Batman V Superman New suit

Wow they really did brighten that suit up. Was hard to tell from the first picture released of Superman because it was set in Gotham, a city where it is perpetually raining (Much like every city in the UK).

#3. The Fever, The Rage

Batman V Superman Great Cowl2

First off great cowl, best we’ve ever had. Well actually it will be if he can turn his head. But I believe the best part of this scene is the quote from Alfred. “That’s how it starts. The fever, the rage…the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel”. The real question is who he is referring to. Batman? The people in general or Lex luthor?

#2. That’s Not The Batman V Superman Fight

Batman V Superman New Batman Suit

At first this looks to be the aftermath of the epic battle between Superman and Batman but its clearly not that battle. The colour scheme, the suit batman is wearing, the buildings and climate look nothing like the battle site shown. So where and what is this scene? Look again at the Wonder Woman picture they released. Looks pretty similar doesn’t it. I think this is some kind of scene from the end of the film. Setting up Justice League.

#1. The Fight Begins!

Batman V Superman Let the fight begin

And the fight we have all been waiting for. It begins here. We have no idea why, who started it, what the result will be and how it will affect the future of the DC cinematic universe but I don’t care I just want to see it! Let the greatest superhero show down BEGIN!!!!

What I Didn’t Like

#1. What is this Scene?

Batman V Superman Superman militia

This is the skull scene from the man of steel trailer. It makes no sense out of context. Got some theories but honestly don’t have a clue what this is. I thought they maybe robot guards of his new fortress of solitude but why do they have guns? Government Superman Corps? Out of context it’s a real head scratcher.

New Poster

Well that’s my views. Now what do you think about this newest trailer?

I’m sorry but I like the Star Wars trailer better.

Thought it was a good teaser – I like the way they seen to be handling the love/hate situation with Superman and how he seems uncomfortable at being perceived as a god (might explain the scene you mention above with the armed soldiers kneeling?).

Ben Affleck certainly looks the part, I’m loving the whole Dark Knight Returns feel. Looking forward to the next trailer!

I’m intrigued by this one. DC has a ways to go to catch up to Marvel and I hope they can use this to lead up to a Justice League film.

Great post. Liked the teaser, a lot. I wonder how Batman will face Superman without Kryptonite gloves. If I am not mistaken there was no Kryptonite in The Man of Steel. Maybe that metal suit is strong enough for what Batman needs.

Watch the dark knight returns animated film. Its great and explains it all. Or read the comic 😀

The suit alone is nowhere near enough but its one of many parts to his planning 😀

I hope that is not the actual poster…if it is I am not a fan lol. Hopefully by the time the movie gets closer to debuting they will have come up with something better. Thanks again Tim!

Not a bad teaser, though I can’t believe they initially wanted us to PAY to see it, heh. I love that part when Supes dropped from the sky w/ a loud thud. Let the fight begin!!

After seeing the trailer of Star Wars, I was actaully disappointed by this trailer! I didn’t understand what I saw. It was like seeing pieces that doesn’t fit to each other. But what I saw did look great. I just don’t know about that armor suit of Batman and his voice, Sounds too robotic… Can’t wait for a real trailer 🙂

The things that you don’t like are the reason I liked it. Its a teaser for a film that’s 11 months away we shouldn’t know what this film is until way later. Its a confusing and glorious tease 😀

I pose the same question you asked me. Superman or Batman, who are you rooting for?

You know my general opinions of this plethora of superhero movies, but I dunno, I’m pretty game for this BvS stuff. I say if superhero films are gonna go bigger and more epic, go all the way with the really famous ones and show us stuff we haven’t seen before, i.e. The Avengers, Batman fighting Superman, etc.

So many people are clamoring that DC is “skipping steps” in building this movie right after MoS. Frankly I’m glad they are, because I don’t want to see 3 or 4 or 5 standalone films of minor DC characters I don’t really care about (e.g. Aquaman, Shazam?). Give me the cool ones already!

My favourite bit was just catching Luthor at the end of the montage of people’s voices. It was chilling and threw away any worries about Eisenberg’s casting.

Also Batman looks really ‘real’ in this one. If that makes sense…

Wow you were that convinced by his voice over. Am already onboard for him so it didn’t change my mind much I’ll wait to see more before I change my mind.

Batman looks so good! Snyder ripped batman out of the comics! Same for Superman 😀

      Who are those soldiers though?
