Fantasy Football Week 10 WR Rankings: TY Hilton, Ryan Broyles, Dwayne Bowe and Donnie Avery

In our Week 10 WR rankings, we discuss and rank T.Y. Hilton, Ryan Broyles, Dwayne Bowe and Donnie Avery.

Mike gives projected stats and Rich gives position rankings.

Mike’s Rankings:

4) Donnie Avery, IND

Avery broke out in a half of play in week 9. He is banged up and Luck is coming into his own as the year progresses. If Avery plays, I think he’s limited, and goes for 4 catches, 35 yards and 0 TDs.

3) Dwayne Bowe, KC

Pittsburgh has the top rated pass defense thus far, and the Chiefs aren’t predicted to stay close in this game. If the Chiefs could stop the Steelers…which they can’t, and control the clock with the run…which they shouldn’t, they could keep it close….but they won’t. This has the makings of an all or nothing game for Bowe. But the “all” looks more like 6 catches for 70 yards and 1 TD to fall behind but just one point to my #2 WR pick this week. I’ll give Bowe the benefit this week but he could easily be shut out.

2) Ryan Broyles, DET

Broyles wasn’t a good receiver in college, he was a great one. He simply slipped in the NFL draft due to injury. He’s entering his fourth game and showing signs he’s playing above a typical rookie WR. In fact, if he played all the games this season, I think he’d be the top rookie wide out. Think of Broyles as a young Anquan Boldin, a possession type receiver than runs short routes, cuts across the middle, and works underneath. These types of players are safety blankets for QBs and go-to receivers for first downs. The Vikings can score and play good defense, so this game won’t be a pushover for Detriot like last week was. I think Broyles takes another small step forward in this offense and goes for, 7 catches, 70 yards and 1 TD.

1) TY Hilton, IND

I have Luck as my top QB this week. With Luck slinging it, it’s a crap shoot as to who gets the yards.  “Spin the wheel, TY Hilton, and step right up to claim your prize!” Along with Reggie Wayne, who I think outperforms Hilton this week, (I snuck in an extra pick for our readers!!!) Hilton goes for 7 grabs, 80 has and 1 TD.

Rich’s Rankings:

4) Ryan Broyles, DET

Broyles has only come to the forefront of fantasy discussions the past three weeks.  With Burleson out for the year, he has been getting more run each game.  Stafford has targeted him about 5 times per game and he’s been able to put together some decent statistics with those looks.  But those numbers are his high-end and shouldn’t be counted on.  Look for him to be a solid flex option this week against a good Minnesota D.

3) Donnie Avery, IND

Even though Avery had a great game last week with 5 catches for 108 yards, his weekly stat line for the last few games prior to that was about 4 catches for about 50 yards with no TDs.  This week against Jacksonville he might improve on those numbers slightly.  But not enough to vault him into the upper echelon of WR’s.  Look for Avery to be a #3 WR this week.

2) TY Hilton, IND

Hilton is equivalent to any member besides Scottie Pippen of the 90’s Chicago Bulls: right place, right time.  He couldn’t be in a better situation being a young WR “coming up” with Andrew Luck.  Now he has to make the most of it though.  And this is his week to do it.  Last time he played the Jags, he lit torched them with 4 catches for 113 yards and 1 TD.  He’s rolling lately with that great game against Miami.  Look for him to be a solid #2 WR this wee.

1) Dwayne Bowe, KC

I remember when Bowe was considered a top 15 WR on potential alone.  He’s fallen since then as I’ve seen him ranked as high as #22 to as low as #44 this week.  His stats this year through 8 games, 45 rec. for 571 yards, point toward #22 position.  I’ve always considered 1000 yards as the standard for an above average WR and Bowe is well on his way toward that number.   Even though he’s playing the #1 rated pass defense in the Steelers this week, KC will have to throw the ball and he will get some opportunities.  Look for him to continue his yearly trend of producing high-end #2 WR stats this week.

Mike Rich
#4  Avery-4 rec. for 35 yds  Broyles-Flex
#3  Bowe-6 rec. for 70 yds, 1 TD  Avery-#3 WR
#2  Broyles-7 rec. for 70 yds, 1 TD Hilton-#2 WR
#1  Hilton-7 rec. for 80, 1 TD  Bowe-high-end #2 WR

Rankings:

Quarterback- A #1 QB is ranked as a top 12 player in terms of fantasy points at this position for the week, #2 QB is ranked 13 through 18 for the week in terms of fantasy points scored

Running Back: A #1 RB is ranked as a top 12 player in terms of fantasy points at this position for the week, #2 RB is ranked between 13-24 for the week in terms of fantasy points scored

Wide Receiver: A #1 WR is ranked as a top 20 player in terms of fantasy points at this position for the week, #2 WR is ranked between 21-30 for the week in terms of fantasy points scored, and a #3 WR between 31-40 for the week in terms of fantasy points scored.

Flex Position- This is a running back and wide receiver that ranks outside of their standard position but may be worth a start in deeper leagues that use a flex starter spot in an active line up
