About Knot Genie

Knot Genie, the company and the detangle brush, was created by Rikki Mor, a mom of twin daughters who was desperate for a better solution to getting tangles out. After trying out every product she could find, she knew there had to be a better solution. Drawing upon the knowledge of which products had worked better for her family and what hadn’t worked at all, Rikki joined with an engineer to draw up the plans that would become the Knot Genie Detangling Brush.

 


About the Knot Genie Detangle Brush

The Knot Genie brush doesn’t look like a typical brush. There is no handle. There are no little balls, stiff bristles, or high tech gadgetry. The ergonomic design fits easily in your hand (right or left), making it more natural to use. Review

 I have four children whose hair range from slightly wavy to full spiral curls. Over the years of combing out tangles, there have been more than a few tears and not all of them were my children’s. While my sons tend to choose shorter hair styles that are less apt to tangle, my daughters have tangles galore. With a toddler whose fine super curly hair is constantly being tangled and an eight year old with a very sensitive scalp who has grown her hair out and does not want any tangles in it, hair combing has not been a favorite activity of mine recently.

I first heard about the Knot Genie detangling brush over a year ago. Listening to reviews from other families, they either loved it or hated it, and I was unsure whether it would work for us. However, we were recently reaching my limit. While I was managing my toddlers curls fairly well with the help of copious amounts of water and a comb, I wanted to cry every time I saw my older daughter with tears when we were trying to get the tangles out. I was ready to try anything. when I told her we were going to review a Knot Genie detangling brush, she exclaimed, “Yes!”

The first time we used it, it was better than the comb but we still had tears. It wasn’t magical. Then we read the handy tips and tricks on the website. For us, that was the key. While it may seem counter intuitive to those of us who grew up hearing never to brush wet hair, the combination of wet hair and the Knot Genie gave my eight year old her first tear free detangling experience in years. The same conbination of wet hair and the Knot Genie worked equally as well on my curly headed toddler and took less time than I had been spending with the comb.

I have to say that the Knot Genie get 2 thumbs up from my kids and would be a fantastic addition to any family struggling with tangle issues!
