What I thought:

This is an omnibus edition, that includes the Prequel Novella My Soul to Lose, the first book My Soul to Take, and the second book My Soul to Save.

This is the first book of hers I read, and I’m wondering why I didn’t sooner. I love the idea of the banshee, as well as the interesting characters she’s created. I’m glad that I read this version, as it comes with the prequel, which explained a few things that I would have been wondering about in the first book anyway.

The prequel gives you enough information, while making you want to read the first book to find out more. It centers around her visit to the mental hospital, when she has one of her “attacks” that she can’t control, and can’t stop screaming in the middle of a mall, to the point of harming herself to make it stop. Only thing is, when she screams, it’s because someone around her is going to die. The story is a short one, but I loved it.

The first book, My Soul To Take was awesome. In this book she finds out exactly what she is, a banshee, and why she has the urge to scream when someone is going to die. You are introduced to her family more, and you meet Nash, her love interest in this book, and Tod, the mysterious Reaper. Everyone has their secrets in this book too.  And then there’s the mystery of the girls randomly dying in the city one after the other, that the characters get swept up in.

The second book was just as good, probably even better. My Soul To Save is about popular new pop artists, selling their soul for fame and fortune, but with a twist. They don’t know half of what they’re getting into or what will happen to their souls when they die. Then Tod drags Kaylee and Nash into helping one girl, that used to be his girlfriend when he was still alive.

I have to say that I already love this series, and I’m so excited to read the next one! I’m glad I signed up for the reading challenge to read these books his year. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves young adult, and is wanting something new.
