The Office of the Child and Family Service, under the Pikinini Act 2014, is taking care of the children of the late Jenelyn Kennedy until court hears the matter this month.

Director Simon Yanis told the Post-Courier yesterday that the matter of the two children’s custody is already being documented for its first court hearing, while the children are living with the Kaiwi family under the supervision of the office.

“The children are under my care and we are looking after them until everything is formalised in court,” Mr Yanis said.

He said the Child and Family Service office is making sure there is no outside influence from the families of either parent and others.

The office is waiting for the scheduling of the court to allow it to be heard, he said.

The two children are aged between four and two.
