A Note on Service Pack 3/XP

If you have installed XP with SP 2 as most of us…it might be a good idea to back up your copy of SP3.  It should be in Windows on your C:/ drive…Windows/\Driver Cache\i386…Windows/\ServicePackFiles\i386…Windows/\SoftwareDistribution\Download\cf8ec753e88561d2ddb53e183dc05c3e.  All show 23,852,652 for size (it’s PowerDesk and I’ll admit I can’t be sure, but I believe that’s byte size, since we’re using that kind of representation).  PowerDesk 6 is a beautiful tool for files on XP and below.  PowerDesk 7 is necessary for Vista.  It allows a great deal more file manipulation than the standard Windows interface, which I’d have a hard time saying anything about:  I’ve basically promised not to use foul language here.  “My Computer” is a Star Trek (original) version of file manipulation, in my opinion.  Pardon me, “IMHO”.

The reason for backing up SP3 is just that it takes a long time to download and install.  If you have it on hand, it’s much less time.  And the internet is becoming steadily more dangerous.
