New Everton head coach Roberto Martinez plans to use the proceeds from the imminent double sale of Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini to Manchester United in order to bring three new players to Goodison Park this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The Toffees are said to be bracing themselves for the arrival of a new and improved offer from Premier League champions Manchester United for their coveted duo, with Martinez understood to now be planning for life on Merseyside without either player.

However, the Spaniard has already been promised all of the money from the departure of Baines and Fellaini to sign replacements by chairman Bill Kenwright, with Wigan Athletic midfield player James McCarthy and the Manchester City pair of Gareth Barry and Aleksandr Kolarov thought to be on Martinez’s wish list.

The Latics are expected to demand a fee of at least £15 million for their coveted Republic of Ireland international, who scored three goals in his 42 appearances for the club last season, although Everton are not thought to value the 22-year-old so highly.

Meanwhile, Martinez believes that he can persuade England international Barry to move to Goodison on a season-long loan now that the 32-year-old has been told he has no future at Eastlands by new City boss Manuel Pellegrini, with the same applying to Serbian full-back Kolarov.
