Argentina’s Mental Health Reform: A Journey Towards Community-Based Care 

Argentina’s population of 40 million people has faced significant psychosocial vulnerability and social inequality throughout its history, which has only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, the country enacted the National Mental Health Law No. 26657 in 2010, which called for the closure of psychiatric institutions and the development of community-based, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral mental health services with an active role for users.
