Russell Library In Middletown To Celebrate Constitution Day Sept. 19

Federal Judge Stefan Underhill will speak about the U.S. Constitution at Russell Library on Wednesday, Sept. 19 to celebrate Constitution Day.

The celebration commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1787 by 39 members of the Constitutional Convention. The document created the three branches of the United States government.

Underhill will talk about the U.S. Constitution in today’s society, and the library will display books and other materials on the Constitution.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. in the Hubbard Room at the library, 123 Broad St. Underhill is a United States district judge for the District of Connecticut.

A federal law created by West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd was passed in 2004 declaring Sept. 17 to be Constitution Day.
