FORT MYERS, Fla. – Employees from Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins across the country, are helping fight hunger this first week of August in their annual week of service. That includes service and volunteer work right here in Southwest Florida. More than 20 employees form local franchise stores in Lee, Charlotte and Sarasota counties spent Wednesday morning sorting food at the Harry Chapin Food Bank in Fort Myers. On average the Harry Chapin Food Bank and their volunteers sort more than 40,000 pounds of food every day. “We are thrilled to have additional support from The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation at this critical time,” said CEO and President of Harry Chapin Food Bank, Al Brislain. “Hunger is an issue that touches every community, and it’s our responsibility to work together to help those in need.” The food bank relies on businesses and community partners like Dunkin’ Brands to help them keep their supply chain running and utilize volunteer work to keep their cost down, allowing them to focus on their mission of fighting hunger. Last year the Harry Chapin Food Bank worked with more than 150 partner agencies to provide over 16 million meals for 30,000 people every month in Southwest Florida.
