Steelers Win Pete Rozelle Award

The Pro Football Writers of America announced today that the Pittsburgh Steelers were selected for the 2015 Pete Rozelle award, given annually to the best public relation’s staff in the league.

The group consists of Burt Lauten, Ryan Scarpino, and Dom Rinelli.

The award is named for Pete Rozelle, NFL commissioner from 1960-89, who started his distinguished career in sports PR roles as a student at both Compton (Calif.) Junior College and the University of San Francisco.

The team was chosen out of a group of five finalists. The Rozelle Award originated in 1990 for the media relations staff who best “consistently strives for excellence in its dealings and relationships with the media.”

This marks the second time the Steelers have won the award. They were also selected in 1991.
