Jaylin Wayne, a freshman student at HBCU Grambling State University, has been arrested in connection to a double homicide of two fellow students. During a fight between Wayne and one other man, the pair were shot and killed before the suspect fled the scene.

Local outlet KNOE.com reports:

Authorities say an arrest has been made in connection with the shooting deaths of two people at GSU on Wednesday.

According to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jaylin M. Wayne was arrested on first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of Earl Andrews and Monquiarious Caldwell. Authorities say Wayne was arrested Thursday around 8:30 pm.

Authorities say Wayne and Andrews were both GSU students.

Investigators say they believe the shooting was the result of a disagreement that led to a fight between Wayne and Andrews. They say Caldwell was trying to help Andrews. That’s when they say Wayne pulled out a gun and both Caldwell and Andrews were shot.

Wayne, 19, is a native of St. Louis, Missouri.
