JUST IN:152,000 Public Basic School Teachers to begin Training on New Standard Based Curriculum August 6

About 152,000 Teachers at the public basic schools across the country shall begin a compulsory workshop on the implementation of the New Curriculum for Basic Schools.

The New Curriculum is expected to  be implemented  in September 2019 to begin the 2019/20 Academic year.

The workshop is meant specifically for Kindergarten and Primary Teachers only.

A communique from a meeting held between District Directors and the Director General of Education in Accra on Monday,July 29 ,outlined some modalities for the conduct of the workshop.

According to the directive,all teachers from Kindergarten  1 to Primary 6 must attend the workshop.

Participation is compulsory for all teachers including those on sandwich programs.

”Teacher’s who should fail to attend the training must not be given a class next academic year.” The directive emphasized.

The training is scheduled for three weeks  with an additional one week for mobbing up of the training.

Each District Education Directorate is expected to divide its participating teachers into Clusters or groups of at most Three depending on the population of the teachers.

Each teacher is expected to spend at least one week for the training,starting from 6th _ 10th Aug, 2019.for Cluster A , 13th _ 17th Aug , 2019 for Cluster B and 19th__ 23rd for Cluster C.
26th_ 30th August is set aside for the  mob up.

Feeding and Transportation

Snack and lunch will be given everyday and T&T at the end of the week.

There will be roll call in the morning, afternoon and evening each day of the training.

The workshop is non-residential ,meanwhile some districts who wished to offer such opportunities to their teachers are free to do so.

Sandwich and Distance Education Teachers

Teachers who are gone on Sandwich /Distance program should make it a point to attend the workshop within one of the clusters at their own convenient

Nursing mothers are to make necessary arrangement for keeping their babies during the training period. No child will be entertained in the classrooms.

NB: Teachers are expected to contact their Districts for further district-based inquiries.
