by Gregg Ellman (@greggellman) :: There’s not a whole lot to like about house cleaning and especially vacuuming. That is, unless it’s automated with the new Yeedi K650, pet-and-kid friendly home robot vacuum.

Get excited about a robot vacuum when it does the chore for you and does it well, even better than others I’ve used that cost significantly more. Yeedi states they don’t make consumers choose between affordability, deep-cleaning technology or design aesthetics—Yeedi delivers it all. And they are true to their word.

Even without holiday guests to clean up after, two dogs makes it a constant chore so the Yeedi K650 had a mission to do and did it well.

The pet-friendly Yeedi K650 is app- and voice-controlled, has a quiet mode, 2000pa of suction power, two silicone tangle-free brushes, a main brush to sweep dirt into the suction area, and a large 800ml XXL-sized dustbin for less emptying. A pair of big wheels help navigate different heights, which is handy going from floors to carpeting.

A filter in the trash bin can be replaced (replacement included) and a small brush is really handy to clean out the trash bin.

Setting up the Yeedi app is straight forward. Download it, create a free private account, and pair the vacuum. The app works with multiple Yeedi’s. Once paired and set to go, like most people you’ll want it to run so let it do just that.

There are three modes on the home screen; edge cleaning for all the corners and edges, where pet hair and most all dirt seems to gather. The auto mode cleans the whole house for up to 130 minutes, which is how long the built-in rechargeable 2600mAh battery will last. With the spot mode, if a small area requires cleaning, just put it in that area and start it up. When the area is clean, like music in musical chairs, the vacuuming will stop.

My house is mostly hardwood but there are area rugs and mats outdoors. During the entire auto mode, the vacuum did push around dog toys and the small mats, it didn’t get stuck on anything. This included getting in and out from under my kitchen table and chairs.

The front of the Yeedi K650 has anti-drop and anti-collision sensors to help keep it from knocking into walls, furniture, small children and even falling down the stairs. Officially, the 13-inch rounded body is 3.1-inches high and has a 0.71-inch climbing threshold.

When the battery is dieing, it returns to the home base charger or you can end the vacuuming or send it to the charger with the app.

I’ve yet to see any vacuum that gets 100 percent, so yes this left spots behind. But when you open the Yeedi K650’s trash bin and see what it did pick up, it’s impressive. Yet also discouraging to know this much dirt was lying on my floors!

For cleaning enthusiasts, the app keeps a log of when cleaning took place, how often, how long and the distance covered. The accessories usage shows how much the side, main brush, and filter have been used with the estimated time remaining before they need to be replaced.

The vacuum power has four modes: the quiet mode was great, you can hear a TV while running the robot vacuum, but it does reduce the vacuuming ability. With each of the other modes, standard, max and max plus, the strength increases.

If the robot vacuum does come in contact with an obstacle, causing it to get tangled and stopped, the app alerts you. But where is it? Often you’ll have to go looking for where it got stuck, in a closet, under the bed, etc. So with the app, just tap the Find My Robot, and the Yeedi K650 will broadcast from the vacuum “I’m right here.”

Within the app, cleaning schedules can be set for the vacuum to go off on a daily or weekly or at a specific time and day.

The Yeedi K650 is Alexas and Google Home compatible. Magnetic boundary strips can be purchased to set up areas for the vacuum to avoid.

Vacuuming has never been so much fun.
