Hello Friends! Happy Friday! Thanks for coming in to look around. I hope you get a little bit of inspiration to send you into the weekend. Here’s to a productive and also restful weekend.
This Virginia horse farm retreat is stunning. The design is modeled after historic bank barns, where the stables for horses are beneath the home. The reclaimed oak timbers throughout the home are stunning against the richer espresso tones of the floors and leather seating throughout the space. This is the quintessential equestrian styled barn home that evokes a feeling of comfort but also elegance. Go see the whole house on Home and Design.
Try these tomato tarts this weekend. They’re the perfect end to summer. Hearty enough for dinner, but also the perfect compliment to a big garden salad. They have me dreaming of a roasted veggie tart with my beets, rainbow carrots and the last of summers fingerling potatoes. P.S. If you haven’t heard of Heidi Swanson yet, she’s a gem. Her food is satisfying and stirs your soul. Go check her out at 101cookbooks and get lost in her endless unique recipes.
This charming barn lies up in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Owned by actress Amanda Seyfried and her husband, it has been converted into guesthouse plus a lounge and spacious exercise room. The leaves on the ground and the color changes in the trees make this place feel like fall fading into winter. Go see the whole article on Remodelista.
Someday can I have a charming white barn for my horse and goats to live in? This property is actually in Maine, designed by Suzanne Kasler, Cole and Cole Architects and landscaped by Mohr & Seredin. This property is definitely a coastal getaway, but I just love this barn and meticulous stone edging and pathways. Check out the whole property at Architectural Digest.
Fishing in a creek. It brings back good memories of my childhood fishing with my grandpa. While we never ventured into fly fishing, he was an avid outdoorsman. Always taking us out fishing on a lake or in a river, then teaching us every step of catching, humanely killing, storing, gutting and then cooking. When he died, his garage was a treasure trove of outdoor gear. Go venture over to the famed Blackberry Farm, a luxury resort in Walland, TN that immerses you in that hearty lifestyle that is farming, outdoor adventures, homegrown food and renowned wine. A place that will stir your soul and make you want to pack up your life and move to the country.
Speaking of Blackberry Farm, their collection of Barn Pottery is gorgeous. Browse through their whole line of kitchen pottery and tablewares in this simple light grey glazed finish. This breakfast looks like the perfect start to the weekend. Griddlecakes with fresh maple syrup, thick sliced bacon on the side and a steaming latte to fill you up for the days chores.
Take a weekend drive and picture this misty field with sheep on a late summer/early fall day. Captured by the incredibly talented and renowned Jose Villa, this image also taken at Blackberry Farm is what country life dreams are made of.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the last bits of summer.
