The Hollywood Reporter is spreading the news during TV upfronts week, publishing its weekly magazine early in order to distribute thousands of copies at the broadcast networks’ annual presentations in New York.
The issue, featuring Damon Lindelof and the rise of the power writer, begins with an analysis of the $9 billion TV upfronts. The Hollywood Reporter also reunited the writing staffs for some of the most popular and influential shows on TV — The X-Files, with series creator Chris Carter joining star David Duchovny and writer Vince Gilligan, who would go on to run AMC’s breakout hit Breaking Bad; Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with Joss Whedon; Shawn Ryan and the staff of The Shield, and the Emmy-winning writers for Murphy Brown.
