  1. Love the December SSB. I’m going to use the charm packs to make a seat cushion for the small chairs that my son and grandson sit on when they go ice fishing to give them extra padding and warmth. I’ve been eyeing the pin caddy for some time and was happy to see one in the box. The zipper pull is going on my coat and I will definitely get a chuckle using the quilt labels. Thanks FQS for a fun box and can’t wait for the January box to arrive.

    1. Hi Sherry!

So glad to hear that you like it, and it has inspired a new project!

      Happy sewing!

  2. I loved the box for December! The pattern is just great. I love the pin catcher and the zipper pull is precious! I love anything about zippers. Thank you. Hugs,

  3. I am very excited to have the magnetic pin cushion and the iron Ons. And I can see the Trailblazer pattern in so many different fabrics.
Thank you Kimberly and Kevin and all of the FQS staff for another great year of patterns, teaching and sharing.
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy 2023.

  4. Love the Fisherman’s Bend fabric collection and having charm packs to make the lovely Trailblazer quilt. I already ordered the background, binding, and backing fabrics. I’m going to use my new Juki TL- 2010Q to piece. Love the zipper pull and the labels too! Thank you Kimberly, Kevin and all the FQS for all you do!

    1. I always look forward to receiving my box. Love everything in it this month except for the Sassy transfers. Totally disappointed with it. Not one transfer would I use on my quilts. I make each quilt with love not with rude comments. I gave it away.

  5. I have been getting this sweet box for years. It’s like getting a gift to me each month! No, I don’t always love the items – but most of the time I do! I have two sisters that quilt and 3 daughters that like to sew a little so if there is an item that I don’t just love I gift it to one of them! Keep them coming!

  6. Love everything in my box. Each month, you give me the opportunity to use fabrics I would never pick but always enjoy. Thank you for putting some extra sunshine in my life each month.

  7. Love the box! It is a gift to myself every month! Even when there are items that I myself will not use, I have sewing friends that I share with and that also is fun. I actually had the magnetic pin caddy in my shopping cart to purchase! I will use it with my longarm when I do maintenance to keep me from having to crawl around on the floor looking for the screw or washer I dropped! It’s the nature of the beast- you can’t please everyone all of the time. If you as a customer do not understand that premise, then the surprise box is may not be for you. I love the SSB and the mystery and surprise that come with it. Thank you for it! I’m a quilter so I appreciate you keeping it for quilters.

    1. Hi Melissa!

Thank you for such kind comments. Glad to hear you liked it!

      Happy quilting!

  8. Ienjoyed the box this month altho I still haven’t been able to open the pin box. Must be a trick to it? Fabric is not always what I would choose but its fun to see other fabric lines and if I don’t like the fabric or something in the box i have a large group of quilting friends that will! Plus I tend to make the quilts and then give to charity if I don’t like them. They are always nice quilts, maybe just not my cup of tea. Thanks to everyone at the FQS who work so hard on these boxes! Glad to see inventory is coming back in…the boxes have gotten better since it’s not been so hard to get supplies and we are back on track month wise.

    1. The magnetic pin box doesn’t open exactly. It just has a little drawer that holds a few pins. The main purpose is to hold the pins on top where you can easily pick one at a time up

    2. Hi Lyn!

Just wanted to clear up some confusion. Here is how to open and use the Magnetic Pin Caddy from this month’s box! Put your thumb in the indentation on the bottom and push it out. It loosens up a little after you do it a few times. We don’t want it too loose, or our pins will fall out! Only the drawer on this item opens. You can pull it fully out then open it up to store your pins or other small notions!

      Hope this helps!

  9. I love getting the SS box every month. It’s always fun to see what’s inside and lets me try things I wouldn’t normally purchase. It’s true that there are some things that don’t work for me, but it’s still exposure to different items, some of which I have no clue how to use! I also love the different fabrics and can’t wait to make the December quilt even though it looks a little fishy to me. 🙂
    I love FQS!

  10. I have loved this box & last month’s box. I will use everything in them & plan on taking a few of these projects with me on retreat in March. I especially loved the Sassy labels! My sewing group has a great sense of humor.

  11. Fun box! Thanks, FQS. I love the pin holder (yes, the drawer is a bit stiff to pull out), the little knife, and the adorable zipper pull. I think the labels are funny, but I’m not yet sure if I will put something that snarky on a legit quilt. Time will tell. If nothing else, they will be fun for other purposes, and maybe a project that is less serious in time and effort.

  12. Marissa,
In order to have a 5″ 1/2 sq triangle block, the blocks should be cut at 5 7/8″. I did a test on scrap fabrics with 2 5″ squares and the sewn size ended up at 4 5/8″. The directions say it should be 5″. Before I cut into my pack, can someone recheck these directions?
    Thank you in advance.

    1. Hi Ann! I asked and here’s what I found out:

The half square triangles should measure 5” x 5”. In order to make a 5” HST from 5” square fabric, you have to stitch from corner to corner and discard one side. It’s like doing a corner square. Not the traditional way of making them, but it works!

Just make sure you’re following the diagram and directions in the pattern for the half square triangles and you should be set!

  13. My Dec. box arrived quite beat up and had openings in it. The only thing missing was the zipper pull. Is there any way of replacing it? Thank you. I really enjoy receiving the boxes.
