Annabel Harz’s new book, Journey into the Shadow and Sunshine, is being launched at the Book Wolf on Friday 26 November at 6pm.

Following on from her first published works, Journey into the Dark and the Light, Annabel shares a series of poems and artwork depicting her struggles with mental health.

Her art and poetry are a blend of works from adolescent through to adulthood and are a powerful portrayal of the depths of depression and despair that many are able to relate to.

“It opens a lot of conversations,” said Annabel. “When I was an adolescent people didn’t talk about suicide and depression, there was a stigma about it. My books create a space for people to talk about difficult things, which I welcome.

“I’ve always felt my journey with depression has been like a hidden identity.

“It was a little terrifying when I published my first book. I knew that I liked it, but I wasn’t sure if the world would.

“I’ve received a lot of positive feedback and compliments on Journey into the Dark and Light and I’m really looking forward to the launch of Shadow and Sunshine. I’ll be reading poetry and also singing songs that are thematically related.”

Annabel is currently writing book and event reviews, for four different sources, which she is enjoying. She is planning to write another book in the future.

“I’ve always got plans for another book, in fact I’ve got five books in my head,” laughs Annabel. “But you can only write one at a time.”
