Amber Portwood Dad Dead — ‘Teen Mom’ Stars Father Passes Away
Such sad news. According to a new report, Shawn passed away after he was recovering from an operation on his liver and on Dec. 11, he was placed in a medically induced coma in a Florida hospital, Daily Mail reports.
On Dec. 14, Amber took to Twitter to ask for prayers for her father. “Everyone please pray for my father he’s in ICU…I appreciate it and sending love always.”
Amber Portwood Fights Accusations She Wasn’t With Her Dad At The End
Before his passing, Amber’s brother, Shawn Portwood Jr. had revealed that their father was in the coma waiting for a liver transplant. He told Radar Online, “His liver isn’t functioning correctly, and he does need a transplant. He has been in an induced coma since Thursday so he can heal from surgery.”
Shawn revealed to the publication that Amber’s boyfriend, Matthew Baier drove her from Indiana to Florida so she could be rested before being by her dad’s bedside.
“He sat in the waiting room the entire time and even watched my son,” Shawn said. Unfortunately, three days later, Amber had to return to Indiana after coming down with strep throat.
“When my father found out he had a liver condition 11 years ago, he quit drinking and turned his life around,” Shawn said. “Amber and I are very close to him.”
