Ryan Seacrest’s Wheel of Fortune Start Date Revealed
It’s going to be a wheel-y long time before Ryan Seacrest grabs the game show baton from Pat Sajak.
In an early morning Twitter post Wednesday, the retirement-bound Sajak clarified the timetable surrounding Wheel of Fortune‘s forthcoming host changeover.
“I’m looking forward to my final season starting this fall,” Sajak wrote, “and then handing over the car keys to Ryan Seacrest in September of 2024.”
Sajak’s tweet arrived roughly 24 hours after Sony Pictures Television announced that Seacrest had been tapped to take over as emcee in Season 42. Whether or not Vanna White will still be with the show at that time remains an open question; the legendary letter turner’s deal expires next summer and there are indications that negotiations for her to stick around could get messy.
A wishful-thinking Seacrest nonetheless name-checked White in Tuesday’s announcement, saying, “I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.”
Well when else would Seacrest take over? The season starts in September and Sajak goes for one more year then obviously Seacrest would start in September 2024
And my last day to watch Wheel of Fortune will be in August 2024!!

I think the only reason Ryan might last a few seasons and took the job is because he can go in, record quite a bit of episodes in one day or week and then go off and do his other stuff. Unlike Live with Kelly, he couldn’t do that. I mean who else wouldn’t want a boatload of money to work a few long days and then have a ton of time off.
Apparently Pat Sajak gets about $15M a year to show up several days a month to film a few weeks’ worth of episodes. Sounds like a great gig! Vanna White reportedly gets about $3M a year to press the letters (she doesn’t even turn them any more). That show must make a boatload of money!
I’m very sorry to see Pat Sajak leave the show he’s synonymous with. He’s earned his retirement and I wish him the very best.
I also feel Ryan Seacrest was the perfect choice for Pat’s replacement.

Sony would be a fool not to sign Vanna for a couple more years, if she wants to do it. Just for continuity. If it’s not Vanna, I’m not sure who would be the good option. As long as it’s not Maggie p Sajak, I’m good.
Ryan congratulations I wish you all the luck. I know you will do a great job. But I think it’s about time for Vanna White to move on with Pat they were a good team together. And I love them for 40 years. I think you need to have a new letter Turner to bring a younger crowd and the next generation.

I believe that there should be a new person taking Vanna Whites place. It’s time for Vanna to give someone else a chance to do the job! You can see she’s getting up there in age. We need a fresh young lady.

I don’t mind Seacrest, but, I don’t feel he’s right for this gig. What made us love Trebek and Sajak was the fact that they weren’t huge Hollywood players. That’s why Ken Jennings has quickly won over the Jeopardy fands and the jury is still out on Mayim. Wheel should be hosted by a newcomer. Actually, I have a suggestion as to who would nail this gig, and, it’s Dallas Raines of ABC7 Los Angeles. I would LOVE it if he did wheel. It’s got to be somebody fresh and out of the big entertainment industry. Somebody get Dallas!

Other than 14 weeks of American Idol on Sundays and sometimes Mondays, and one night a year on New Year’s Rockin Eve, what other television is he on anymore? He is clearly available for Wheel.

Ryan seacrest is a greedy ass-whole. All the people that could benefit from this job and make a lot of money should have been considered.
I think Vanna White should get a raise and even take over Pat’s position if she wanted it. She is a very devoted employee and if both are taken off of WOF I will probably not watch the show anymore. I feel u should do what ever you can do to keep both Pat Sajak & Vanna White as emcees on W.O.F. They are very talented and i don’t think they can be replaced . Thank you.
Guess that will be the end of Wheel of Fortune. I have no interest in watching Ryan Seacrest. Frankly I’m sick of seeing him. they should have replaced him on AI when everyone else was replaced. He never should have been put on with Kelly. Now whoever is in charge has decided to destroy another Iconic show… the people at Disney must be jealous that a TV show is doing better than the Disney holdings. GREED all GREED

The reason a lot of people watch this program {including myself}because we are fascinated w/vianna’s clothes ware! She leaves the wheel of fortune, I can rest assure the numbers will plummet!

I feel you are not treating Vanna equally or fairly. All these years she has been there should count for her loyalty. If Pat’s daughter takes her place you should probably kiss the show good by. She’s only there because of who her dad is. I and many friends will not there watching!

Vanna should not have to face such a ridiculous challenge. She obviously has helped to make the show what it is today, yet underpaid whereas Pat Sajak has benefited in higher salaries each year. Certainly a clear case of gender prejudices!
