The CW dropped its 2024-25 primetime schedule early Thursday — and the network’s executives have some explaining to do. Atop our list of burning Qs: Where are veteran scripted series Walker, All American and All American: Homecoming? And if the trio are living on borrowed time, will their current and potentially final seasons end on a satisfying note?
Below, Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment, tackles those unsolved mysteries, while also teasing Superman & Lois‘ 10-episode swan song and offering an update on Season 4 of The Chosen.
What’s the latest on the future of Walker, All American and All American: Homecoming?
We’re having active conversations on all of them right now. We just didn’t need to make those decisions this week. I guess you can call them bubble shows.
If this is the last season of Walker, can the final episode function as a series finale if need be?
The ending is extraordinarily satisfying. But there are also some amazing hooks in that last episode [that could set up a Season 5]. It’s a very, very good finale.
But the producers were not told to specifically plan for a series finale?
No.
Could All American and All American: Homecoming‘s season finales also serve as a proper series finale?
Yes.
Any truth to reports that if All American gets renewed for Season 7, it could return with a whole new cast?
[Co-Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll] has a bunch of stories to tell [in Season 6] and I think, naturally, some of those stories are coming to an end. We have Spencer going into the draft, there are some romantic chapters [that could] close… I think the natural storytelling is leading some of the very big arcs [to a possible conclusion].
How do you think the final season of Superman & Lois will be received?
I have watched nine of the 10 episodes and [they are] f–king awesome. It is weekly event television. Greg Berlanti and the producers have constructed 10 bangers. They really go for it. I’ve cried twice watching [the first nine episodes], and I haven’t even gotten to the finale yet. It’s Emmy-worthy. And, by the way, you can watch this final season without having watched the previous [seasons] and still be emotionally invested in what is happening. It’s a wonderful, 10-episode, contained arc.
I’m assuming you’ve read the finale...
I have. People are going to be blown away.
Lastly, what’s happening with Season 4 of The Chosen?
We have Season 4, and it’s coming soon.
What I don’t understand is how can people watch the final season of superman and Lois without seeing any previous seasons kinda makes no sense too me considering season 3 ended on a massive cliffhanger.
If you have max seasons 1 and 2 are on there and I think season 1 had some extended cuts of episodes that didn’t air on the cw or on there site or app
Its just more indication that the superpower stuff is going to be extremely downplayed in this season, there wont be too many references to past superpowered beings and stuff not to mention most of the cast has been reduced so not much time will be spent on them anyway.
I can already see a scenario where we do a time jump to where superman killed doomsday or by some miracle reversed him back to bizzaro but the fight took a toll on him and he isnt at 100% the whole season thus why he cant just instantly beat a confession out of lex for his crimes.
What happened to Penn and Teller?
The network unscripted president said they’re trying to find a time to film with the guys again, they want to keep the show going if they can.
Did he just call Superman and Lois Emmy worthy?
Yeah I chuckled too.
The executives are so psyched about the last season Of Suprrman & Lois. The cancellation is Emmy worthy?? CW can’t spin this to justify their reasoning. I am no longer watching that network.
Isn’t Superman & Lois cancelled because james gunn start new dc and not wanting to have multiply of the same hero at a time.
That and also CW under new management is very cheap. And Superman is super expensive, and can’t be reduced to their satisfaction despite cutting most of the cast. I don’t know why you cannot have two different universes of Superman. One for movies, and one for television. But it’s mostly, pretty pricey. And CW does not want to do quality pricey…
Gunn’s “reasoning” or WB’s is hilarious because they have no trouble at all developing a DCU Batman movie with his biological Robin son called “The Brave and The Bold” while also allowing Matt Reeves to continue with his The Batman movies “saga”. Hipocrisy at it’s damn finest. And don’t get me started on how Peacemaker making the cut despite it being a production of the previous WB regime. Every day it becomes more clear Gunn’s just playing favourites.
Don’t forget the Batman animated series on Amazon which presumably takes place in yet another universe, the Batman stuff that’s already been on Amazon which also presumably takes place in another universe, the upcoming Joker movie which I would imagine takes place in another universe as well, even the Batwheels and TeenTitans Go animated series which I would guess take place in two separate animated universes as well…
Yeah, Gunn is definitely playing favorites. His stuff gets to stay. The heck with anybody else’s work-it’s too threatening to him to acknowledge the work of anybody else….
TBH this is just Nexstar and their hype man Schartz trying to sell something desperately despite their actions saying otherwise. This reminds me a lot to Zaslav’s comments last year of how he watched 3 times The Flah film in order to make it sound it was the most epic thing ever. Here Schartz says that it’s made him “cry twice” watching all of the episodes. Give me a break. I don’t need this guy to tell me Berlanti again kills it in the superhero genre, but this faux advertising is pathetic after they had a hand in cancelling this show post all the negotiations they made to cut budgets and reduce the cast and the number of episodes AND the budget. It’s two-faced.
You have an awesome Emmy worthy show but you cancel it. The Stupidity!
Only show worth watching is Walker.
DO NOT TAKE WALKER OFF! WTH? WATCH IT REGULARLY, THE ACTING HAS GOTTEN SO MUCH BETTER, LET IT RIDE.SERIOUSLY
Emmy-worthy canceled television. It’s like this week’s “Xbox shuts down Hi-Fi Rush’s award-winning studio.”
Exactly. It’s like naming somebody “Employee of the Year” … at the same time as sending out the termination email.
Cannot wait for Superman and Lois but so sad it’s the last season. Amazing show with fantastic performances from Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin.
I’m hoping for a Walker renewal, sad that Superman & Lois is ending, and looking forward to The Chosen season 4. I would like to see Walker spend more time with stories that involve the family. It seems lately that everyone is off doing their own story line. I love the cast of this show, and they are best when they work together.
I love Walker. It is the only show on CW I watch anymore. My only wish would be that they stop the never-ending drama with the 2 kids running off to do dangerous things on their own in secret.
Walker has gotten sooo boring, and the character’s seemed to have forgotten how to act.
Sorry, but this is what it seems like to me.
I was a fan until a few weeks ago.
J.
I think they try to have interesting stories for the younger fans. I love the addition of Luna and him and Cassie are great together. Get back to the horse rescue. Walker’s parents are fun to watch and I think we need more Geri. The Jackel storyline has been interesting to watch. Hope it stays on.
The saddest thing is that ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’ is on the schedule. I was so happy when I thought it was finally canceled but nooooooooooo
If characters or anything else changes on All American I’ll never watch the show again. I don’t like the way things are going on that show now. It’s not flowing like it used to. Getting rid of JJ 🙄 was bad and the show right now has no cohesiveness in the storyline..Don’t fix what’s not broken!!!!! That’s been the demise many shows by viewers. Keep that in mind writers. Ugh!
And here I thought it was only me! The new season of All American not only doesn’t flow like it used to, but the weekly storylines are convoluted, redundant, and boring. Overall All American has lost the magic that once keep me glued to the TV screen. This show effectively died once they killed off Coach Baker (Taye Diggs), and then followed that up by getting rid of JJ. It has been a downhill slide ever since. Smh.
The CW is now getting on my nerves. I’m actually interested in their new scripted content, but why become invested when nothing’s no guaranteed any of it will live for more than one season?
I do not want Walker or Superman and Lois to go! Why do good shows have short life spans and others i feel, should should have been gone years ago stay! So frustrating! 🙄
Any spoilers on The Chosen? I’m captivated by the story though nervous about how it’s going to end.

*snickers*
RE WALKER …. I loved this show. The 1st couple of seasons, I couldn’t get enough. What happened? It went from Walker to The Stella Kidd show. 80% is about Stella (still not talking to anybody, thinking she’s the ONLY one who can solve a crime) and now, has Augie involved when he’s suppose to be doing boot camp preparation every day but everyday, it’s back with Stella. If Walker ends this season with yet ANOTHER Stella cliffhanger, I’m done. It can come back or be cancelled.
Stella Kidd? Wrong character name. That name is from another show. Pretty sure Stella Kidd is from Chicago Fire.
So, basically James Gunn wanted Superman and Lois canceled because of his upcoming movie. Talk about a ego

Any word about Son of a Critch?
I really don’t understand why you haven’t renewed Walker as it seems to usually be one of the most watched shows of the channel. It has compelling story lines with a focus on family tribulations, a nice balance
Please don’t cancel Walker! I would rather see them reduce the episodes than cancel. Justin Johnson Cortez is a great addition. Luna and Perez are great together.
Please don’t cancel Walker, it keeps getting better and especially with the addition of Justin Johnson Cortez Luna and Cassie are great together. I would rather see reduced episodes than see it cancelled.
Look if they wanna be ION channel knock yourself out. But stop B.Sing your viewers like they are dumb. Just cancel the shows so the actors can move to real networks. It was bad enough most of them were out of work due to the strike. Like let’s wrap this up. This network died when The Flash ended anyway.
