Teri Polo has booked a mystery role over on CBS‘ FBI: International — though we have a fun theory on who she could be playing.
Polo of course has starred on TV’s The Fosters and its offshoot Good Trouble, as well as Fox’s one-and-done The Big Leap. And as far as broadcast-TV procedurals go, she had a mini arc on CBS’ own NCIS that spanned the Season 19 finale and Season 20 premiere, playing Special Agent Alden Parker’s ex-wife, Vivan.
According to our sister site Deadline, details on Polo’s FBI: International character are being “kept under wraps,” but this much is known: She will appear in the final two episodes of this season, then continue on into Season 4 if the FBI spinoff gets renewed.
What sort of character would need to be kept “under wraps,” to have any sort of surprise element on FBI: International?
What if it’s… someone we have met before.
Someone very close to one of the agents.
Someone who is… a mother… to the team leader?
What if — we purely speculate — Polo is playing Angela Cassidy aka Scott Forrester’s mom, who was last season at the end of Season 1 wearing Lost alum Elizabeth Mitchell’s face?
Hear us out….
Introduced midway through FBI: International‘s freshman run, Scott’s long-lost mother was revealed to be a U.S. government asset who allegedly was selling information to the Russians. Eventually, the truth came out that Angela was working as a double agent, and that real allegiance was in fact to the United States.
In that season’s finale, Angela sadly bid her son adieu once again, asserting that she needed to disappear anew in order to keep them both safe, seeing as at least one assassin was hot on her tail.
What if in the time since, Angela got a touch of plastic surgery to change her appearance enough to resurface and not be found out — now looking more like Gaylord Focker’s wife and less like Gia Carangi’s girlfriend?
Am I onto something? Weigh in!

That’s a bit of a deep cut. Kudos for it
No way-sounds like Day of Our Lives
I’d have guest Tate’s mom or if Tara does a British accent maybe Smitty’s mom.
Why the recast? Teri is probably playing a new character and not an old role but with some Plastic Surgery that magically changes a person’s voice as well.
Nah. That would be a downgrade in my opinion, since I like Elizabeth Mitchell in the role of Forrester’s mother. Plus, where else is there to go with Angela Cassidy? Scott found out she didn’t betray her country, forgave her for leaving, and left on good terms with her. The last update we had of her from him was that she was fine. Don’t shoehorn her back in for no reason.
My guess is that she might be Amanda Tate’s mother, since we already know that Tate’s going through a custody battle with her ex-husband over their daughter Lily.
Don’t agree with the “downgrade” comment (both women are great), but agree with everything else you said.
Got a touch? Lol, I would boo this. And I am really used to Stefano’s reincarnations from the dead. Too soap opera-ish.
No, don’t like your theory…..besides, why backtrack with Scott’s mom when he is leaving the series? This series needs new blood brought in that’s able to carry the series…..Vinessa Vidotto’s (aka Cameron) has been transformed into this supposed tough as nails agent but it doesn’t suit her plus I don’t think she can carry this series as good as Luke Kleintank has. It’s made people like her even less than before so I’m glad they are bringing in Colin Donnell for the last 2 episodes hopefully to be the new boss.
Did I miss her or was she not in tonight’s episode (the second-last of the season) after all?
She was not. Though I was assured she would be in final two episodes. Curious.
