The Best Men’s Hygiene Products of 2024

Avoiding smell, with style.

Proper hygiene is grooming’s sensible side, but that doesn’t mean the products have to be boring. Coifing mooses and $80 candles are great and all, but every guy also needs a go-to body wash for darker crevices. We groom to take care of ourselves and also to not smell bad. The following products remove smell and add something a little extra, too.

BEST DEODORANT

Sometimes, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. That’s how we feel about Dove Men+Care’s deodorants, which are almost like a comfort blanket. They’re a cost-effective and great-smelling way to keep your pits fresh, full stop. Pro tip: Dry skin types should choose the Clean Comfort stick, in particular, to benefit from the brand’s signature 1/4 moisturizing formula.

BEST BODY WASH

The aptly named Beardbrand dominates in the beardcare category, but the company’s overall head-to-toe offering is a standout. The brand’s new Bold Fortune scent impressed us enough to make the list — its combo of leather, oud, tobacco, and whiskey is both sexy and refreshing — and in this Utility Wash, it lingers long after a rinse. While there aren’t a lot of two-in-one shampoo-body washes we’d endorse, this one revives the skin and hair equally.

BEST BODY LOTION

$18.00

Prequel’s Barrier Therapy cream is a body moisturizer that’s effective and soothing for all skin types. Its formula calms dry, irritated complexions with colloidal oatmeal and allantoin while reinforcing the skin barrier with a heap of ceramides. (It’s approved by the National Eczema Association, too.) Bonus: It’s also an excellent value. Its large, 10-ounce bottle will set you back less than $20.

BEST SHOWER EXFOLIANT

We love cheekiness as much as Happy Nuts loves serving it up: This body scrubber is shaped like…well, exactly what it sounds like. (What else could one expect from a brand called Happy Nuts?) More importantly, its silicone buffing pad builds a nice lather with any body wash for a maneuverable, gentle scrub. Plus, it’s anti-microbial, so it can hang in the shower between uses. (Though to be clear, we do suggest tossing it in the dishwasher.) Overall, it navigates the most sensitive areas with aplomb, making it the best body scrubber of the year.

BEST BODY POWDER

This classic brand is the one we continue to trust first and foremost with body powders. This particular recipe is talc-free and has a pinch of cooling menthol that cools and tingles on contact. A dash of this will prevent moisture accumulation, stifle odor-causing bacteria, mitigate rubbing and chafing, and even stop any itching at the site of bug bites or sunburns.
