Khanyi Mbau was born on the 15th of October 1985 in Johannesburg. She was raised by her mother and grandmother in Soweto.

Khanyi’s mother gave birth to her when she was unmarried. Under her grandmother’s care Khanyi attended a school with white people thus she acquired good education.

She gained popularity in 2004 after she started acting in Muvhango. She was fired from the show because she loved parties.

She has featured in several South African shows including Uzalo. In 2016 she was a radio co host with Somizi Mhlongo on Metro FM.

In 2005 she started dating millionaire Mandla Mthembu. They got married in 2006 and divorced nine months later. Their union was blessed with a baby girl. Khanyi’s networth is estimated to be $10 million.

Khanyi Mbau admitted to skin bleaching claiming that looks were important in the entertainment industry. In 2017 she spent R95 000 in cosmetic surgery. She underwent waist reduction and she also had a breast job.
