MADISON, Wis. (WXOW) – Data released on Monday from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services showed more than 45 percent of the eligible population has received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The numbers said that 2,643,660 people or 45.4 percent of residents in the state have received at least one dose of the vaccine according to DHS.
The figures stated 2,297,163 people, or 39.5 percent of the state’s population, are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
In Western Wisconsin to date, 124,381 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. It equates to 45.3 percent of the total number of people in Western Wisconsin. 112,169, or 40.9 percent, have completed the vaccine series.
The DHS figures show that 60,905 people or 51.6 percent of residents of La Crosse County have had at least one dose of the vaccine. 54,578 people in La Crosse County or 46.2 percent completed the vaccine series according to the state.
In other counties, these are the percentages for the population completing the series of COVID vaccinations: Monroe: 31.4 percent, Vernon: 37.7 percent, Trempealeau: 43.4 percent, and Jackson: 32.7 percent.

DHS said there were no deaths in the state from COVID-19 in its Monday update. The number of deaths in the state from the virus is 6,958.

27 people were hospitalized in the past day as well.
With another 116 cases, it raises the total number of cases to 606,274 since the beginning of the pandemic. Another 2,229 tests came back negative.
Of all positive cases reported, 592,230 or 97.7 percent, are considered recovered.
