A lifelong Phillies fan, I’m entirely psyched for the World Series, of course, as are millions who long to see them repeat as champions for the first time in their 127 year history. Like this one:
Bensalem police said they arrested a Philadelphia woman Tuesday after she offered to perform various sex acts to an undercover officer in exchange for tickets.
According to police, Susan Finkelstein, 43, posted an ad on Craigslist that read:
“DESPERATE BLONDE NEEDS WS TIX (Philadelphia) “Diehard Phillies fan—gorgeous tall buxom blonde— in desperate need of two World Series Tickets. Price negotiable— I’m the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!”
An undercover officer responded to the ad, police said, and arrested Finkelstein after she made her offer. Philly.com
The “various” sex acts are not provided, dammit. I’m thinking something to do with a baseball bat or a bouncing ball up the middle, through the hole. To the tune of, “Take it out at the ball game…..”

Wired 96.5’s Chio in the Morning and auto dealer Gary Barbera plan to give a pair of Game 3 tickets to Susan Finkelstein, the Bucks County woman accused of trying to trade the promise of sex for Series tickets on Craigslist.

Yeah, how BOuT dem Phillies? That will go down in the books as one of the great World Series pitching performances ever. Stuck it to the Yankees good — the first WS game played in their new stadium, their first loss. They looked anemic.

I was thinking Phillies in 6, but after last night, I believe Jimmy Rollins: 5 games. They’ll take tonight’s match — Pedro will pitch a gem bested only by Lee, yesterday — and a 2-0 lead back home, where they’ll win rwo more.
Very impressive team. The rest of the country and all the media are blinded by Yankee pinstripes. It happens a lot.

impressive win by the Phillies two nights ago. Last night it was a bit of bad luck for the Philies, but the Yankees did not look as good as their famous history says they are. If they are intent on winning they better start batting.
Lee’s piching was magnificent. Few pitches and many strikeouts. If the Phillies win all of the next games in their home turf, it is all over for the Yankees. Next two games should tell the story. IMHO the Phillies will take it again. They look every good. The Yankees look mediocre.
Sharpshooter the only reason you’re dissing the Yankees and pulling for the Phillies is because the Phillies wear red instead of blue, and you’re a red-state guy. 🙂
Seriously this has been a GREAT World Series and I agree, the Yankees’ offense is subdued. It will be a big game tonight for Cole Hamels, who had a sub-par year, and still tends to surrender too many long-balls.

Seriously, I already have the beer in the fridge waiting for the game and the chips wit mexican salsa ready for tonight. Thank God, where we are overseas we can get ESPN sports broadcasting the World Series games. Normally they ignore the baseball games in favor of the European football (soccer) games and they bombard us with the same soccer games over and over again.
Somehow someone with a bit of brains in the Direct TV offices for LatinAmerica, decided to broadcast the games for all of its Latin viewers .
BTW, I am a National League fan from way back. I know I am revealing my age, but my favorite team during childhood, was the St. Louis Cardinals when Stan Musial “the man”,Bill Virdon, Wilmer Mizell and Red Schoendienst were playing with them. I used to collect the TV baseball cards from the 1950’s and left a good size shoebox full of them back in the old country at Grandma’s house.
I bet they are worth some money now!

I remember those Cardinals teams — Stan Musial was one of the best players ever in the NL. You probably could make some money off those baseball cards, if they’re in decent condition. Check teh internets for collectors and card values if you like.
Meanwhile, my Phillies have dug themselves into a sizable hole.

I watched in amazement last night for the faux pas when the guy was able to run all the way to third base on a stolen base with two outs!. Then that bean ball to Texeira sealed the Phillie’s fate when the Alex had the hit. I can’t believe these Yankees. They did exactly the same thing in the 1950’s to another team which I think it may have been the Braves. Right in the ninth inning and with two outs, they won the game.
I am out of luck concerning the old TV baseball cards. Even if they were there (which I doubt) I will never travel to the old country to retrieve them. The reason I left is still alive and convalescing (unfortunaltely!) and the system has not change for the better, so I will not go anywhere near it. For me is a matter of principle since I will not give those communists one single dollar of my money by spending it there.
Anyway, maybe tonight the Phillies will be able to turn it around before the come back to Yankee Stadium. Hope is the last thing one loses.
Remember the old Yogism: “It ain’t over till is over”. LOL.
