NIS Personnel To Pass Exams for Promotions, Others In Yobe

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Assistant Comptroller General, Ismail Abba Aliyu has said that the personnel have to ‘write and pass examinations’ before they are promoted to higher ranks.

Unveiling the promotional criteria, yesterday (Thursday), at the Northeast zonal meeting in Damaturu, the NIS Comptroller, disclosed: “You will believe me that the service has changed. All of you have to participate in the promotion exams to get promoted.”

Besides, he added: “I salute you for discipline, dedication and hard work,” urging the personnel to sustain the tempo of service delivery at the Command.

He said that to raise personnel’s productivity and ensure maximum protection of country’s territorial boundaries, a befitting NIS office complex, will be built and furnished in Damaturu, the state capital.

He noted that staff quarters, will also be constructed to address accommodation problems of personnel in Damaturu and the border areas with Niger Republic.

He said that the Assistant Immigration officers are to prepare for training in Kano, Kano state before the end of this year.

“Whenever you are trained you will give good accounts of yourselves, going by the reports we’re getting,” he said, adding that they should be respectful to constituted authorities.

He described the Yobe State Comptroller, A. S Essien, as a disciplined and purposeful leader of rendering immigration services to the people.
