Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has lauded the Army for protecting four communities against Boko Haram attacks.

The insurgents last week attempted to attack and overrun Gujba, Buni/Gari and Babangida towns, including Geidam, a border community with Niger Republic.

While lauding troops’ efforts Monday in Damaturu, the state capital, he said: “Let me commend the Nigerian Army for repelling Boko Haram attack on Gujba last Saturday.”

He said the determination of the security forces in pursuing the insurgents had recorded success and would change the narratives in the fight against terrorism.

“The resilience and gallantry of the military is highly commendable and must be appreciated to spur them to do more,” he said.

He therefore called on Nigerians to always appreciate and support the security operatives in view of the overwhelming security challenges across the country.

He assured the support of the state government to the army and other security agencies to secure people’s lives and property.

According to him; “this is a collective fight that we are all involved in to end this war.”

He also called on people to provide credible information on suspicious movements in their communities to military and other security agencies.

While sympathizing with injured persons, he said: “I wish the victims quick recuperation from the sustained injuries.

“We’ll provide emergency support for all the affected people in Geidam, Gujba and Babangida communities.”

He directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide the needed assistance to the people, after the agency’s assessment of property damages.
